People who hate Dimitri for his "horrible, centrist, status quo-loving, monarchial politics" continue to be so interesting because uhhh literally every other FE lord before 3H believes the same shit as him.
That includes Ike as well despite him not being a prince/noble, considering IntSys compared Dimitri directly to Ike positively for a FE Heroes video.
He has the same detestation for violence and war like every other lord, it just depends on his mental state whether he's pretty typicaly appalled by it (Marth, Eliwood, Micaiah), violent and threatening when faced with it (Hector, Lyn, Ike, Chrom) or self-sacrificing about it (Celica, Eirika, Corrin).
Him choosing to save Faerghus over getting caught up in his revenge is ripped straight from Marth's playbook of "I am a prince before I'm a son or a brother." That itself was also used in Leif's story regarding maturing beyond selfish revenge and personal satisfaction, instead choosing responsibility for one's homeland.
He has the same conviction of Lucina when it comes to wavering about choosing the life of a loved one versus the safety of countless more. He shares the ideals of combatting oppression and igorance that Ike and Roy have. He shares the dual belief of having compassion for others with the strength to protect the vulnerable that's espoused by Alm and Celica.
His supposed "centrism" is really just a verbose version of the "there is more than one truth" speech that Sigurd passed down to Seliph; understanding that there's multiple perspectives for each side of a conflict, not to excuse one's evil actions but to better prepare for the future when those grievances come up again.
Why are people so uncomfortable with a Fire Emblem lord acting like a Fire Emblem lord. Complaints about status quo don't make sense, considering monarchial hierarchies still exist in the alleged "progressive" ending that Edelgard's route has. Her choosing her next successor is no less of an archaic practice than genetic inheritance is.
Just call the spade a spade: you don't like what Fire Emblem stands for, you like what you pretend Three Houses stands for. You like what Three Hopes offers because it confirms your biases despite the very publicy known fact that the writers said they deliberately made each character worse off-and Fodlan worse off-because they didn't want to invalidate Byleth, i.e. what Three Houses actually was.
