Scienctific Calculator
A scientific calculator implemented with HTML5/Javascipt technology as a Progressive Web App. Nice use of Service Worker and offline support and launches from the homescreen. Even has a cute clickety-click sound when you press the keys.

Why did you say that blocking user zooming is a no no? You are talking about the viewport meta-tag value of `user-scalable=0` I presume? Is it still cool to set `initial-scale`?
Initial-scale is fine. Â altering user-scalable is bad.

Once added to the homescreen I couldn't tell it was not native, 60fps graphics and great sounds.
Actually, it could do with some improvements: It should work offline and have nice launcher icons. There was also a weird redirect once the site new it was on mobile. Other than that it was pretty great.

A great example of what a modern web-app should look like. SVG OMG takes an SVG and compresses it. Works offline (with ServiceWorker support), installable to the homescreen, great touch support across devices and runs at 60fps (loading in under a second).

A rather amazing web compass. Looks great, installs to the home-screen, integrates with Geolocation and can also go fullscreen.

A rather fabulous mobile experience. Whilst it is now a little late for Christmas, this combines the use of the accelerometer, WebGL and Audio and a little bit of SVG thrown in to make a very beautiful and immersive experience.

This is a great web mail app that works very well on mobile (even puts gmail to shame if you ask me). It's smooth, loads quickly and looks great. You can add it to the homescreen, although it only uses the mobile-web-app-capable meta tag and not the manifest.
It can't do notifications and updates when you don't have the web app open, but with the introduction ServiceWorker in the future I am optimistic that they could do this easily.

A nice and simple web app that lets you take a photo and quickly share it with another person. It looks great with a clean and simple UI and a good use of theme-color to integrate in to the Lollipop UI ;) It also has the ability to be installed with a Web App Manifest

It's Alchemy working well on mobile. When added to the home-screen it launches fullscreen (via the web app manifest), it has theme-colour so that it looks nice on Android and it uses AppCache so that it works offline.

It’s Digg that works amazingly well on mobile, with a fast hamburger style menu. They block user zooming which is a no-no nowadays. Would love to see them add a manifest so that you can install the web app on Android and also theme-color.
