Now that I have had time to process what this episode was I did notice a complete lack of ka'kwet storyline and I think it's for two reasons,
1. The history. There could have been a an ending where she escapes but honestly, knowing what i know about these Residential schools, that could only have ended terribly. To put things in perspective this took place during 1890's and the last school closed in 1997. I do believe Moira wanted to be authentic as possible and giving us this fairytale ending just wasn't accurate at all.
2. Open-ending. We last see Ka'kwet in the school, staring outside the window at her parents. With her parents so close, and with her moms words 'their laws cannot break us' we left at a somewhat positive note. That maybe something can be done. It's up to us to guess what happened maybe Ka'kwet did manage to escape, maybe she didn't.
Either way, i don't believe that ka'kwet was just abandoned by Moira.
All the scenes at the Lacroix/Blythe household with Bash, his mom, Elijah and Delly are BEAUTIFUL. I think that storyline was dealt with in a way that taught everyone an important lesson: That in life we all will make mistakes, it just depends on what you do afterwards that matters (unless its Billy fuck you Billy you get no redemption EVER).
Elijah learned the hard way what his actions caused. He brought distress to a household that only had open arms to him. He never was able to say goodbye to Mary and all the scenes we saw with him before this episode was him being angry at the world. Elijah may have not proven himself completely to Bash, but he is doing everything he can to do right for himself.
Thank you Moira for amazing AMAZING scenes that break my heart, bring me such joy, make me smile cry laugh and throw my phone across my room. This show is a blessing.
everyone is talking about the shirbert kiss but they all failed to mention that i would cry a total of over 10 times while watching the finale. anne saying “you got a boy after all” when matthew suggested jerry move in? dianna getting yelled at for wanting a higher education? anne crying because she doesn’t want to go and be forgotten? any scene with elijah? matthew crying with martilla but still not telling anne he’ll miss her? anne crying after getting the letter about her parents? matthew telling anne he’s going to miss her and giving her the money to visit? the shirbert scene? anne getting the book? anne saying she looks like her mother then smiling in the mirror? i was a mess
no ones talking about josie either :( we haven’t seen that girl laugh / smile as much as we did during those small snippets of them at the boarding house and just the fact that she’s flourishing so freely after everything that has happened makes me feel so much joy for her. team josie pye
bitches have been replaying just the 8 seconds where Gilbert says “what letter? Diana, what letter?” over and over again for the past 2 hours. bitches are me, I’m bitches

actually fuming that i moved to uni and didnt even get the love of my life running across town to kiss me but its whateva... im happy for anne and gilbert...
I want a bosom friend like Diana, a kindred spirit like Cole, a mentor like Ms. Stacy, a family like the Cuthberts, Bash, Mary, and Aunt Jo that is made from love not just blood, a brother like Jerry, a group of friends like the girls, another kindred spirit like Ka’kwet, and the love of my life like Gilbert Blythe. Thank you Moira for this amazing TV show that honestly is not just a TV show to so many of us. You are absolutely amazing.
“Diana, what letter!?”
broke me tbh
im not crying.
im not crying.
im not crying.
im not crying.
im not crying.
i sobbed during all of matthews scenes this episode. him attempting to fill the hole that he knows will be there once anne has left with jerry, ‘ guess you’ll get a boy after all ’, him sobbing to marilla on his bed not wanting to hold her back but not wanting her to leave and forget them either. matthew was the highlight of the episode for me – that’s my father

Mathew crying over Anne leaving is so fucking heart breaking
Diana yelling at Gilbert * chef's kiss *
My heart is still broken over Ka’kwet and the rest of the Mi’kmaq tribe. I just want to protect them all and keep them all safe. To think that this happened and the racism continues to happen today just disgusts me. Treat others with kindness, the world would be a much better place. Props to you Moira for bringing light to such horrible events that happened to the indigenous people.
i cannot get over how hazel was like “i was mean to you so you’d grow up strong” and bash was like “i actually i grew up strong in spite of you :/”
and how she never wanted bash to have too high of hopes or else it’d mean his death yet now she has to look at this home and land that he legally owns and this child unabashedly loves and realize the life his dad wanted for him was obtainable after all and all she did was hold him back

The Effort and Love of Parents
isn’t it strange how gilbert knew annes favourite places? fair enough you could say he discovered the storyclub on his walk through the forest but the cliff that holds so much significance to her? ( she’s visited it occasionally, also that endearing moment with cole ) i can’t help but wonder if they’ve ever spoken about her safe places or just beautiful places around avonlea in general – just sharing knowledge like ‘ i’ll take you there one day! ’ . and then that shell! it isn’t the same one that she kissed but it holds so much symbolism . ugh poetic cinema
‘ perspective is wonderful ’
