I love this scene and this gif says it all! Downton excelled and expressing everything through a look, a shift in the seat, body language portraying more than words!

I treasure those few minutes , the first time Mary sees Matthew at the concert. Her longing for him is so evident, yet she steels herself to calmness, to the point where it is Lavinia who sounds nervous and floundering. I always wonder how much Lavinia knew of their previous relationship. And the tone on Matthew’s voice as he answers “what else would she hear from me”. It is like a warm blanket.

I love his face here. Did he actually not notice until now how much Mary is in love with him! Everyone else did including Richard! I adore this scene!
