With SAREP Chief @SteveJohnson Recent research and reports produced by both SAREP and RESILIM programs taken together with science based reports in the public domain indicate that a number of critical tipping points are set to be reached in the southern African region during the decade of 2040-2050, including threats to regional and national water, energy and food security, as well as to the integrity of many essential ecosystems in the subcontinent. Of particular concern are issues relating to reduced levels of food security, energy security and water security across the sub-continent linked to climate change, as well as increases in human populations (more than 28 African countries' populations are predicted to double between 2015 and 2050), and threats from the spread of various diseases across the landscape. All of these factors are inextricably linked - with often serious knock-on effects associated with each as they become increasingly scarce. As the 2050 period is reached incremental pressures and tensions associated with each of these factors will escalate and possibly precipitate unhealthy competition for resources where desperate communities and groups will be forced into large-scale conflicts and unrest. My team is talking to multiple stakeholders; leaders across several disciplines, communities of practices, politicians in region, and on the continent in developing appropriate responses to the challenges posed by climate change. 2050 is 35 years away, the clock is ticking.

Imagine that. *That's my amazing niece being awesome, everyday, just nje. I'm watching the rain right now, dancing with it as it falls. I'm watching the wind twirl the branches on the trees outside, I'm listening to the beautiful melody whose language is of no consequence to me ... I feel it fully . I'm shutting my eyes and taking in the scents . Breathing it in deep, holding on to it until I can not. What if I told you that the trees love when I exhale ? That they love it so much they exhale too, And that my breath and their breath sustain each other. What if I told you that me and the trees and the flowers and the clay that receives the rain and the thunder and the Lightning !!! That, that is we. They do not end where I begin, neither do I end where they begin. That We are a great ... Big ... Whole.

Closer. 🙏🏾 I envision my future, Then I create it. Call it delusion, call it arrogance. Call it confidence, call it faith, I got plenty of it. Get closer you might get it too.
