We caught up with Terry Farrell at the UK Premiere of the DS9 documentary "What We Left Behind" at Destination Star Trek Birmingham - 20/10/2018 Whilst youâr...
Found this on YouTube from last weekâs Star Trek convention in Birmingham, England - what I really like about it is the scene in the very first few seconds, with Andy, Terry and Sid standing next to each other for photos - Bashir with his two DS9 obsessions!Â
Andrew Robinson is a wonderful and very kind man - I want that stated again in my blog! Iâve known him as a fan for about 25 years, and for all this time heâs been kind and attentive to me every time I meet him again. Iâve been having a little issue with some nervous twitching around one eye, hard to control in photos, and yet when I had opportunities to talk with him, the issue almost magically disappeared (he told me to do just what his theater students were told to do, which is to remember to BREATHE!!)
Heâs very welcoming to all fans, of every age and every background - and he knows heâs been the subject of many, many stories, but when Iâm around him, I keep to a strict âdonât tellâ policy - I really donât think he has any idea of how Iâve beaten up on poor Garak on occasion, although I admit that Bashir is more fun to pick on! I never reveal anyoneâs posts or names, but I AM happy to report that I tell him about Tumblr and my blog of photos, and also about how the newer fans (newer than I am, that is) love the show and are thrilled to meet him. So any of you who post about him, be aware that HE MIGHT KNOW! :-)
At the same time, heâs not too dramatically tech-savvy - last time I saw, he had a flip phone (like I do!)Â And I showed him my YouTube channel of convention videos but I really donât know if he goes and watches them...Â
Two little tidbits from the conversations I was lucky enough to have with him last weekend at the convention: he doesnât gamble. He said he wonât give the casino a NICKEL. Big contrast to Marc Alaimo, who I know DOES do that. Casey Biggs too! And, second, the âVegasâ episode where heâs basically re-doing Scorpio in Dirty Harry was the job that probably made him decide to finally quit acting - although he did love Robert Urich. (I actually like that episode, though - he has more of a vulnerability in it thatâs very touching.)Â
I committed a faux pas when the subject of the X-Files came up and I adamantly proclaimed that I only ever watched two episodes of it, the two-parter with Michael McKean (I love him in that and have seen those repeatedly.) But - DUH - ANDY WAS IN AN X-FILES!!! Which *he* had to remind me of!! <smacks forehead> Of *course* I saw and recorded that one too - I hope he believed me!!
I so hope he returns next year to this. Rene Auberjonois thinks this convention might be his last - I asked him to reconsider, but he doesnât like Creation (who does?) or Vegas, for that matter. But maybe heâll change his mind. I do think Andy thrives even more on the interaction with all of us, enough to overcome any negative things - I hope so!!

Chapters: 2/7 Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak, Julian Bashir & Elim Garak Characters: Julian Bashir, Elim Garak, Odo (Star Trek), Kira Nerys, Jadzia Dax, Quark (Star Trek), Benjamin Sisko, Miles O'Brien, Keiko O'Brien, Original Female Character(s) Additional Tags: Mystery, Grief/Mourning, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, Psychic Abilities, Developing Relationship Summary:
Garak and Odo have not returned from their mission to the Gamma Quadrant in search of Enabran Tain - in fact, they are missing and presumed dead, and Julian Bashir finds himself dealing with that news badly. Very, very badly. Until, that is, he begins to wonder if Garak hasn't perhaps returned after all.
It took me almost a year to return to this strange little story, not because I didnât want to continue it but because it just wasnât making its way from my head to the screen. Iâm not sure if the changes in mood or tone and perspective will amuse readers or drive them away, but as always, the odder it is, the more fun it is to write. Iâm shamelessly stealing the main plot device from a Next Gen episode - which means itâll get even sillier, if you know the episode. Â

Happy Birthday, very kind and considerate man. Iâll never get sick of sharing this photo - itâs my favorite. Taken back in 2001, signed in 2015!
I canât recall if I ever posted this one, but even if I did... who cares??
For Susanna Mälkkiâs second concert as principal guest conductor, the Los Angeles Philharmonic presents yet another extravaganza: Mendelssohnâs music to âA Midsummer Nightâs Dream,â with a full cast of actors and dancers.
I have a feeling that using the phrase âwealthy Hollywood producerâ when describing Andrew Robinsonâs performance as Oberon isnât quite going to warm his heart, now of all times. And WALKOUTS?? (At Los Angeles ticket prices??) Iâm speechless. If I could have, I would have been there for all four shows. Â
Andy Robinson as Prospero and Jeff Bratz as Ariel in a production of âThe Tempestâ in Wyoming in July. These photos are from the article online:

Andrew Robinson at a con in Hamburg in 1997, I think - and thatâs one of the people who saved Star Trek, Bjo Trimble, next to him.  I sat at her table at lunch at a fan club event, and it bothers me to say this but I donât think my fellow DS9 fans at that table were all that great to her - I donât think they really had any idea of how much she did in the â60â˛s to keep the show going.  And without those efforts, no DS9 and no Garak!!

I donât want to forget how to post - itâs been a while... Â Anyway I was at both Huntington and Illinois to see him. Â Those were the days, my friends!
Ds9 fan fiction fodder
In las Vegas at the star trek convention. I'm at the panel discussion about the ds9 documentary, and I don't know if this was already out there but I didn't know it - it seems that the documentary will include the ds9 writers speculating at length about what the story arcs would be for the 8th season. Even if I don't end up agreeing with every idea, I find it tremendously fascinating. Â Now there might even be CANON post-canon Cardassia, in a way! Â And by the way, the producers are VERY thrilled withe the new, young fan base. Â So am I - yeah, I was there literally from day one but that doesn't mean I don't want it to keep living and being appreciated.
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)
âI offer a toast⌠The undiscovered country, the future.â
Actually, I liked this scene and the two Klingons/actors, but this particular line always bothers me.  So now I can vent: I would have much preferred it if he had simply said âYou have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in Klingon.â  (Possibly true!)  Why the âoriginalâ Klingon?  Surely they were aware that Shakespeare was a 16th century human playwright.Â

Doctor Bashir getting a little intimidating for a change. Â Take THAT, Elim Garak.
Another of Andyâs old newsletters. Â BTW, I was at that convention in Las Vegas he talks about (as well as the Huntington one) - I flew home on September 10, 2001, as did most of us in attendance, never realizing that all flights would be grounded less than 24 hours later.
