Is there really no way at all to promote 616 Gwen Stacy's first ever solo book without bringing up MJ, pitting her against Gwen, and igniting dumb shipping wars in the process?

Headcanons are fun and mostly harmless and there's nothing wrong with a bunch of enthusiastic teenagers making them, but if you're going to claim that one of the most unfairly criticized, mistreated and misrepresented female characters in comics sold the love of her life out to a supervillain and played a deliberate part in his murder, at least make your evidence worth my time.
Yes, I'm talking about that "ITSV MJ totally was a Hysterical Woman or Evil Femme Fatale and betrayed Peter to Kingpin" theory floating around.
You may not intend any malice with that theory but also like....imagine how tired MJ fans are.
It wasn't enough you all tried to spread misinformation that Mary Jane was the shallow, unworthy bitch who only loved Spider-Man and not Peter - you all also have to make her a heartless, toxic woman who set out to end Peter's life because she didn't love him, too.
It's just eye rolling how villainizing MJ seems to be everyone's hobby of the decade.

1. What has prepared Mary Jane for this moment?
Before she became a target for maniacs trying to hurt Spider-Man by proxy, MJ was a survivor, and survivors improvise. Then there's the fact that she thrives in the spotlight and knows how to sell a story. For example: "Oh, May, didn't Peter tell you he had to reapply for his photojournalist license today?" Plus, she was to Secret Hospital what Julianne Moore was to As the World Turns.
2. Do you think it’s harder to make it in Hollywood or to survive living in the Marvel Universe?
Well, on the one hand, nearly everyone in the Marvel Universe has not-survived at least once, so the data says one thing, but my heart says another based on The Day of the Locust and Chris Pratt's diet and exercise regime.
3. Will any familiar faces be showing up for a set visit?
There are familiar faces at every stage of production! And sprinkled throughout the series. We didn't forget about the West Coast Marvel Universe when populating our supporting cast, so keep an eye out!
4. What was the artistic approach to Mary Jane in a series of her own?
It was important to me that this series was partially about the fact that anyone can be heroic at any time in their life. I wanted to find an artist who would make Mary Jane look as inspiring just standing up for someone as Spider-Man looks when he webs up a falling building. Carlos Gomez' art would make a great fit on any Marvel book, but we were lucky enough to snag him for AMAZING MARY JANE. Plus, he makes her look fierce while she's being fierce.

This comic is hilariously bad beyond the cheap fridging too, just a bland hodgepodge of Spider-Girl, Spider-Man: Reign, and some elements from the Spider-Man movies without offering something remotely interesting, original or anything of creative value. Sad to see Pichelli's art wasted on this.
