♕ admittedly, hayama is the sort to leave his room as a mess but he supposes that his sister took it upon herself to clean his room. maybe because it was just too messy for her. ah, i have to thank her later, he muses to himself, watching miyaji closely. “cu– ? q? cute?” he questions as he definitely notices the elder stumbling over his words. before he can even continue on with the prodding, he jumps up with a firm nod. “i have two older sisters! they dote on me a lot. it’s a bit annoying but–” the rakuzan player shrugs, a genuine smile on his lips. “i get along with them pretty well. they’re older than me though, so they’re pretty busy and i don’t get the chance to hang out with them much.” a soft bout of laughter escapes his lips and then he tilts his head, eyes widening in curiosity. “oh, you have a brother? what does he look like? is he grumpy like you?” the orange-haired male laughs, playfully teasing miyaji as he squints at the other, poking his side. “hey,” he whines slightly, stretching out the word. “you could’ve said no! but you said yes! that clearly means you so wanted to be my boyfriend.”

“...” That was true, he could have said no... the thought that that was a valid option hadn’t even crossed Miyaji’s mind.  “Fine! Cute. Cute. It’s kinda -- cute. Kinda.” Very cute, actually. “Dote on you, huh? So that’s why you act so spoiled. You should introduce me someday so I can give them a piece of my mind.” Miyaji smirks. As if he’d do that; honestly, he understands where they’re coming from, as he’s been fighting back the urge to dote on Hayama, too. Maybe it was just something about his personality. “Well, it’s nice you get along.” His lips curl into a scowl. “Eh, Yuya and I...” Though their parents pay no mind to it, the two of them have been shouting at each other since they were kids. But he supposes in a way, that’s how they got along. “Well, we look alike, and we’re -- yeah, we’re similar,” he grumbles. “Personality-wise, and we play the same position in basketball... I think he always tried to break away from me, but it didn’t work out too well.” A shrug. “Anyway, I’ll be gone next year, and he’ll be captain, so he’ll definitely be bullying those first years. Feel kinda bad for ‘em, honestly. Ootsubo was such a fair captain, and as vice captain, Kimura did a better job than I ever could...” Miyaji trails off, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand. He’s been trying to move forward, and yet sometimes nostalgia just hits him at the most inconvenient times. “I’m gonna miss playing basketball with those guys. And you -- make sure to cherish your teammates, while you still can.” He sighs. “Sorry, got all weird again. Being around you -- I mean, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy it, otherwise I wouldn’t have agreed to be your -- your -- boyfriend or whatever. But it reminds me that I do have some regrets...” The former Shuutoku player smiles at Hayama, for once without malice or annoyance. Just a little sadness. “Well, anyway, I’m glad in my year as a starter that I got to meet someone as ridiculous as you. So that part I don’t regret at all.”

♕“and this is my room!” hayama finally lets go of miyaji’s hand with a warm smile, raising his brows at the elder. “whaddya think, miyaji-san? pretty cool, huh?”

“Huh. It’s not a mess.” Hayama had always struck him as the kind of person who would live amidst piles of chaos, but he’s pleasantly surprised to see otherwise. Perhaps there was an orderly side of him that Miyaji hadn’t realized. Either way, since he was a stickler for tidiness himself, it relieved him to know that Hayama wasn’t terribly messy. “It’s kinda cu-- nice, honestly.” Way to not cover up that one at all. “Yeah, your house is pretty neat, I’ll give you that,” he admits. “You keep mentioning a sister -- is she younger or older? Do you guys get along? I guess I’m just curious because, well, my brother and I...” Are always yelling at each other. “We’re -- well. We care about each other deep down, and that’s all that matters.” An embarrassed cough leaves his lips. “But you seem really excited to talk about her, so I figured you were close. Or wait -- did you say you had multiple sisters?” A shrug. “Either way, you should tell me about them... if you want. After all -- you’ve dragged me into calling myself your boyfriend and we barely know a damn thing about each other.”

♕“yep, fun,” he confirms with a grin, looking up at the taller male beside him as he playfully swings their arms a little. in reality, hayama didn’t really have much planned for the two of them since the plan was created on a such a short notice but he’s confident that they’ll come up with something along the way. “of course i know what i’m doing, miyaji-san! it hurts to know that you only have half your trust in me,” he whines playfully, his eyes twinkling a bit. after all, the best kind of date is the kind that’s just sort of happens randomly. or well.. that’s how hayama likes to think of it as. along the way, the pair passes by the famous high school, rakuzan, and hayama excitedly points it out, almost ready to tug miyaji into his school but then he remembers that the gates close immediately after six p.m. on the weekends. “another day!” he exclaims, laughing sheepishly. “you should come visit after school, miyaji-san,” hayama pipes up upon reaching his house. it isn’t as big as akashi’s but still relatively large. his house has three stories and a rather large backyard that his mother is proud of since she plants the flowers and herbs in it. grunting, the rakuzan player opens the door to his residence with a key he plucked out from his pocket and proceeds to tug the other inside. it’s rather quiet in the household, which indicates the fact that it’s only the two. “well,” hayama turns to face miyaji excitedly, a broad smile lingering on his lips and soft pinks blooming on his cheeks. “welcome to my house~!”

Trust Hayama to be one of those people who did things spontaneously. Miyaji can’t say he’s surprised, but it’s a bit refreshing. He didn’t consider himself a stick in the mud, but he wasn’t particularly spontaneous either. The fact that he’d even allowed himself to be dragged to Kyoto on such short notice was a miracle in and of itself. “I trust you,” Miyaji retorted, “to do something ridiculous and stupid, you crazy brat.” There’s more than a little affection in his tone despite his repeated (repeated, repeated) efforts to hide it. The older boy is more than a little relieved that Rakuzan High School is closed for the day, but he mentally promises himself that he’ll visit and meet the others another time if it means that much to Hayama. He’ll just have to clench his fists and stuff them into his pockets so he doesn’t grab the nearest projectile and hurl it through the school’s hallways. Miyaji doesn’t even consider himself a violent person per se, just a bit... impulsive. Lost in thought, he almost doesn’t glance up at Hayama’s house -- but he can’t help the look of disbelief that flits across his face when he does. “Hah? This is your house? It’s -- it’s big...” He bites back commenting on what he’s thinking, that all kids who go to Rakuzan must be rich bastards, because he had one of those on his own team as well. And besides, it wasn’t as if Hayama was obnoxious about it. “It’s -- nice,” he grumbles. “Th-thanks for -- for inviting me over.” The gratitude feels so foreign on his lips. “...I guess.”

♕ it feels as if a burden is suddenly lifted off his shoulders as he tugs the elder around the station, the area so familiar to him since he and the team usually go out and about when akashi is up for it. eventually, they make it outside and hayama inhales deeply, a smile still on his lips except a little softer than his usual bright smile. the rakuzan plater turns around and grins at his boyfriend. the term seems so surreal to him, but he;s joyous nonetheless. this is going to be a lot of fun, he muses to himself as he allows miyaji to walk beside him. hayama turns his head to stare at him with the widest, warmest smile and then laughs. “eventually, you’re going to meet them, miyaji-san!” which is true; hayama is most likely going to drag miyaji to his school and make him watch their practice. and then he’ll have his teammates talk to miyaji and everyone will be friends. or well.. that’s how the plan goes. but that’s a story for another day- instead, the younger focuses on the taller male and smiles to himself, mostly. “my parents should be out for work right now. i think one of my sisters is home..” hayama scrunches his nose up in concentration before shrugging and bumping into miyaji a little. “other than that! it’ll just be us! we’ll have a lot of fun, miyaji-san!”

“Yeah, okay, sure, whatever.” That inevitable meeting between himself and the other Rakuzan players was... not going to go well.  Somehow he’d managed to suppress his frustration when it came to Hayama (maybe because he genuinely liked the other, though he still refuses to admit that) but he knew he wouldn’t be able to do that with the others. And he had a feeling that Rakuzan -- maybe sans Mayuzumi -- was rather close knit. If they didn’t get along, it would be like getting disapproval from Hayama’s family. Which would be uncomfortable, to say the very least. “Fun, huh?” Miyaji raises an eyebrow in fake skepticism, although he’s still smiling, betraying his amusement. He nudges the other’s shoulder back. “Have something specific in mind, then?” It’s meant to tease Hayama, but belatedly he wonders if he really wants to know. After all, Miyaji just agreed to be his boyfriend, and he’s going to be in Hayama’s house with him. Alone. Maybe he should have thought this through; now he has to try to force those kinds of thoughts out of his mind before he gets flustered. “...Well, either way, I guess I’ll just trust that you know what you’re doing.”

♕ as soon as he loses his balance, he’s so ready to tumble down on the ground and roll into a defensive stance to make himself look cool in front of miyaji but it doesn’t happen that way, nope. instead, the blond wraps an arm around his waist to steady him and then proceeds to tug hayama in. the mere action causes the rakuzan player’s cheeks to flush in a faint pink color which subsides rather quickly as soon as he turns in the other’s arms, placing his hands on miyaji’s shoulders. “really?!” excitement laces his words, the smaller of the two standing on his toes to quickly peck the latter on the nose before slithering away from his embrace. “i’m really glad, miyaji-san! i’ll make sure that you won’t regret saying yes!” hayama grins brightly, all sorts of reds blooming on his cheeks from happiness. he, then, reaches out and slowly laces their fingers together so that he can tug miyaji off the train and into kyoto’s station. once they got off, the orange-haired male squeezes the elder’s hand gently, a perpetual smile on his lips. “welcome to kyoto, miyaji-san! we’re going to my place right?”

“Yeah... really.” Miyaji tries to look away and act unaffected, he really does -- but his own cheeks are warm; after all, he’s just processed that he’s clutching Hayama -- his boyfriend, he just agreed to be his boyfriend, oh god -- to his chest. The older boy is two parts relieved and disappointed when Hayama breaks free from him, in addition to embarrassed about the kiss he’s just received. In public. Oh well, it’s so crowded that no one noticed anyway... probably. Even with that thought he’s still clutching the warmth of the other’s fingers within in his own; it’s hard for him to even convince himself at this point that he’s not enjoying this. “Well, you haven’t done anything ridiculously annoying yet, so there’s nothing for me to regret,” he mutters, still doing his best to look at anything but the bright smile on Hayama’s face. Which is difficult considering how bright it truly is. Trying to look away from him is like closing his eyes at a rave to avoid the lights and still being able to see the flashing colors no matter how hard he squints his eyelids shut -- in other words, impossible. “Yeah, your place. No way in hell I’m visiting your school.” Knowing Hayama he’d forcefully introduce Miyaji to all the people who had mocked and crushed him during their last match, and he was hoping to avoid said introductions as long as possible. 

♕ the rakuzan player glances at their hands and flushes very faintly, a warm smile lingering on his features. he loosens his grip a bit on the elder’s hand, allowing him to draw soft circles against his palm. he laughs at the other’s words, resting his head on his shoulder with a wide smile. “you can.. punch me with your mouth against mine,” he winks, grinning cheekily at the elder. the orange-haired male then begins to glance outside the window, watching as the scenery zips by and then begins to slow down indicating that their destination is near. he sits up rather quickly, fixing his hair with his free hand and then tugging the elder upward, with a playful smile to match. “no, i mean like,” he pauses, pretending to think. “you know, you being my, hm.. my boyfriend? maybe?” the train jerks to a stop and the both of them stumble forward, hayama almost crashing into another person from the force of the stop. “wah– sorry!” he apologizes with a boisterous laugh, almost letting go of miyaji’s hand.

“That’s so lame...” Of course, now that Hayama’s said it, he’s thinking about it. But he’s hardly going to lean over and punch their mouths together when they’re sitting in public transit together amidst so many people. Miyaji lets Hayama pull him to his feet, his words ringing in his mind. Boyfriend. Just several weeks ago he had been in his usual mindset, resigning himself to a lonely fate because his temper made him completely undesirable. And here he was with Hayama Kotarou of all people, holding hands and taking a train ride just to visit him at his house. There’s a part of him that doesn’t feel ready to commit to that, just because he’s annoyingly nervous about his own awfulness -- when will Hayama get tired of his antics and decide he’s too average and boring to stick around with. “I --” The Shuutoku player reaches out as Hayama stumbles, wrapping an arm around his waist and hugging him to his body so that he won’t fall. It feels like something straight out of a goddamn shoujo manga. But his laugh... it’s really cute. “Your boyfriend...” he murmurs. Just saying the word makes him feel suddenly protective of Hayama, that even though he’s not sure how good of a partner he’d be, he wants to give it his all. “I -- I can agree to that.”
