Love Poem With Toast Miller Williams Some of what we do, we do to make things happen, the alarm to wake us up, the coffee to perc, the car to start. The rest of what we do, we do trying to keep something from doing something, the skin from aging, the hoe from rusting, the truth from getting out. I miss my Dad every single day. The photo on the left was my junior prom and the one on the right was my senior prom. In less than one year pancreatic cancer took over my Dads body and eventually take him from us completely, on the Fourth of July; one month after the photo on the right was taken. One of the hardest things about losing him is knowing how many laps left he had to swim and how badly he wanted to be here with all of us. My great teacher @hannahharpole once said something along the lines of New Yorkers needing restorative yoga more than most people, so that we can slow down our monkey minds and learn to be in the present. My brief time working at a yoga studio I've seen many students avoid restorative and choose a more active vinyasa because they say they want a more challenging class. I'm going to argue that restorative is pretty damn challenging too because it forces you to confront yourself & learn to be still...I propose you all use some pillows or bolsters and let yourself practice restorative tonight even for ten minutes and if you really let yourself be mindful of the practice, I bet you will rejuvenated and be wanting more🌺 (at Fit and Flow Yoga)
