Here is a fanart of Yuka because they are my my favorite and I just finished rewatching Blue Period and it literally made me cry!
And I'm REALLY not the type who cries when watching things ( I can probably count on one hand the times I cried because of a piece of media), but there really is something about this anime that I just connected with.
I mean , I remember watching it for the first time when it just released and finding it very relatable, because I whas in a very similar position, being new to the art world, not knowing art history or the techniques that now seem so basic, and feeling so behind the peopel who had been drawing and studing art since childhood, the peopel who came from families of artists an the peopel that are just talented. I was also in competition with those same peopel for a spot in THE fine arts high school in my country... so I can REALLY say that I understood what Yaguchi felt, even if I whas younger and preparing for high school, not college.
But seeing it again is different experience and I don't even think I can explain it.
I mean the reason for my rewatch is because I'm now also preparing for the entrance exam to a big fine arts college and I thought that it would be interesting to see it again, now that I'm in the same situation as him ..... but rewatching Blue Period I realized that I'm no longer like Yaguchi , now I'm one of those peopel that I whas so jealous of, like I sill have a lot to learn and stuff, but now I'm no longer dicovering the world of art together with him . I'm more experience than him and just have more knowledge on the subject of art. What I'm feel now is nostalgia.
Blue Period is an amazing anime that really captures how it feels to discover art and I love it.
