and now its more than a decade ago.

every once in a while i revisit this and i dont know why. i didnt know him that well. maybe its because his parents got into his forums account and told us the news. if they hadnt managed to get into his forums account noone of us probably would have realized he was gone, he wasnt a highly active poster. and i visited his myspace and other online memorial things theyd set up for him, and they had such an intense outpouring of sorrow in every one of their posts and entries, and they revisited the sites in subsequent months and years to leave more messages telling their son/friend/etc. that they loved him and missed him. and a lot of those places are probably gone offline by now. and someday nobody’s gonna remember him. and someday nobody’s gonna remember me neither. and maybe you too. and i guess the memory of alienwerkshopp is forever entwined with that realization for me. and then all sorts of other memories of folks ive lost, or folks ive simply lost touch with, or folks ive wronged, come all flooding back to me, and i start weeping and weeping

just a couple years off from being two decades ago. i still think of you. any one of us could have gone out in some accident like you did. being forgotten is something that still pains me. the idea of being forgotten. is that why i cling to your memory? because i hope people will remember me too when im gone? that doesn’t make sense. the gesture of remembering you wouldn’t automatically carry forward into someone remembering me. death is hideous. i know people will say its childish and dumb to be afraid of the inevitable. well im not afraid. im sad. terribly sad. its that time of night i suppose. so much has been lost. so many people.
