yknow what. im actually pretty happy with these. i think theyre kinda cute. ludwig is SO fucking hard to draw and i hate his fuckass trim. but i think larry turned out really cute. and roy and morty werent as intimidating to tackle as i thought. wendys hard too, i gotta work on her probably the most. her face is just so different from the others. ffs nintendo let women have fangs. i got tired after finishing lemmy and iggy. its almost 4am. i might draw more when im awake!!

i had fun with this! i have the tenacity of. someone with no tenacity. so i haaaaaaate when im not immediately good at something. unfortunately for me, this is how one learns to do something. how are you gonna do something for life when you wont even do it for a day type shit. learning how to draw for essentially the first time in your life as an adult is certainly a learning curve. but its a learning curve not a give up immediately curve. so i have to keep doing this.

soup these look exactly the same um ok 1 shut up 2 you lowk right. i was pretty happy with their first designs ngl but i tweaked them a little bit. i dont like larrys face but i genuinely think its just the mohawk. some people suit mohawks. larry does not. i wanted to give morty white strands to reflect his poliosis but i couldnt get something to work to recreate that effect. very annoying. for wendy i think the pink lip is a bit jarring but i also dont think she'd gaf. its her signature. she wears what she wants. iggys basically the same, im pretty happy with him. i changed his nose but you cant really see it here. roys also basically the same, i gave him some light acne scarring texture on his cheeks, but i like him. lemmys perfect, just changed his hair. otherwise i really like him. ludwig i changed the most, i took off his skin overlay, changed his eyebrows, tweaked some other stuff. i think he looks good! very ludwig.

this is what happens when you make everything you say up on the fly

summary of the ludwig lore because we've yapped about it before and im sure youre sick of me repeating myself is contained in this post. we are gonna go through so much lore in this post that im sure you dont want any more filler.

so how did he encounter the rest of these freaks. we're gonna go somewhat chronologically but not really because. its the easiest for me.

ludwig found larry. and i mean this very literally. we'll circle back to this. after losing his parents and getting pretty goddamn banged up himself, ludwig spent a year and half or two years in various shelters in sky land before deciding to go seek out bowser for help. the darklands was kind of in. semi active turmoil at the time. just a bit. little pit stop in sparkling waters and this mf encounters a literal baby. dude is like TWELVE. wtf does he do with this thing. but he takes the kid with him anyway. he found larry in some sort of alley, heard a strange noise and went to investigate. found a fuckin kid. fighting demons to keep this little dude alive, he had larry strapped to his chest with a blanket he found the guy swaddled in for damn near a year. he did not know how to take care of a baby. but he tried his best. didnt do a half bad job tbh. but it was beyond stressful. larry was a fussy kid and ludwig was. twelve. kinda a lot for one little guy.

roy and wendy meet each other at a train station in sparkling waters. roys main goal is get to neo bowser city. why? idk hes like eight he thinks its fuckin sick. citymogs new donk by a landslide. and he yearns for fame. its like a small town theatre kid wanting to move to new york. wendy goes along with this because shes like three or four and just lost her mom wtf else is she gonna do. baby roy was trustworthy to her. little pre transition baby roy. he transitioned on the road. these two then meet morton. a little guy who spent the first year or so of his life in an orphanage. sad. baby morty got left Unattended, maybe on a day out with the other kids. they forgor about him ): poor little guy ): wendy saw him first. sitting by himself in a playpark they stopped at. nobody else around. wendy persuaded roy to take the little guy along, come on roy hes just a baby. you cant leave him all alone. so they didnt. took the tiny baby morty with them. i say tiny baby, hes like a year old and morty was a big kid. little roy absolutely fucking jacked carrying this dude everywhere. they were a trio for a little while and roy is fiercely protective of them, he got in a lot of fights and trouble to steal food and protect the other two. theyre all he has.

ludwig and larry meet these three idiots in neo bowser city when they shelter in the same place from the rain. he and roy have an argument over joining forces. ludwig insists its the best thing they can do, gives them some spiel about how bowsers a great king, he'll help them. roy says thats bullshit and hes not going with this random guy and a baby fuck you. youre crazy. roys staying in nbc where his fuckin dreams are, jackass, he doesnt want anything to do with your harebrained plan to go work for bowser- we're KIDS the fuck are you talking about. wendy changes his mind. she wants to go. the city is scary and she feels safer with the other guys. she likes holding little larry. and roy cant say no to his baby sister. ludwig doesnt trust roy to take care of wendy and morty by himself. but hes persistent for more reasons than that. its mostly because hes been alone for so long. twelve year old ludwig is a little. nuts. just a tiny bit kooky. hes been talking to himself for like three years straight and holding himself together with a delusion and a dream that bowser will fix everything, that he can fix everything if he just makes it to the castle and pleads his case, everything will be as it was. so they join together. roy and ludwig dont get along very well. but morty and wendy are happy enough and they take turns looking after larry. its easier with two people. even if neither of them know what theyre doing. they make progress. ludwig thinks roys a bit of an idiot but hes useful. a watchdog. wendys sweet, hes not good with kids but she likes him. makes him daisy chains. morty babbles 24/7 and its nice to hear other people talk. his head was getting too loud with just his own thoughts.

in the background of all this, iggy and lemmy have kinda just been doing their own thing together. they encounter the other five on the road. late to the party. ffs guys lock in. lemdog and iggy are just. going places. seeing the world. no real plan. sweet freedom. theyve been doing their own thing for a little while now, just chilling together doing weird blood brothers shit. they arent even planning on going to bowser, theyre just hanging out. iggy didnt know jack shit about what normal people do and lemmy didnt want a normal kid life. school? gross. schedules? ew. growing up? worst nightmare. but lemmys not gonna say no to FRIENDS that rock up at he and iggys shabby little makeshift camp somewhere in the darklands. iggys weirder about it. dont worry about him, hes always like that. lemmy and iggy add a weight brightness back to the group, the mood is dour and spirits are low and the realisation all their desires are half baked pipe dreams and theyre just kids is starting to sink in. lemmys an entertainer and he puts on a show for the gang, and its nice for ludwig to have someone else thats not like. five years old. they talk a lot. ludwig relaxes a little in the end stretch of their journey. opens up just a tad. lets himself breathe. the weight on his too young shoulders lightens a little with a friend to share the burden with. iggy is also. there. ludwig thinks lemmys a relief and iggys an intriguing little creature.

this all takes place over a weirdly short period of time. maybe a year at most. lemmy has a beaten up old kids watch with the date on it and ludwig is genuinely shocked when he realises the time that has passed since everything. since his parents, since leaving the shelters, since meeting each member of the gang. feels like forever and yet like no time has passed at all. you bond quickly when all you have is each other.

i dont think this post makes much sense and i am sorry i kinda deviated from the main point of this all where you wanted to know about ludwigs backstory with the others. i think its difficult to talk about just one of them when it comes to the time they were together, given such formative years of their lives were spent basically melded together, so tightly intertwined, their stories woven together into a weird tapestry that doesnt really make much sense to anyone but them.

lemmys from the chai kingdom of sarasaland originally. sarasaland is fucking massive. thinking chai kingdom is india-china inspired. depends where youre at in it. sarasaland is fucking huge and goddamn diverse. i take inspo from a lot of countries for it. from what i read about the game the chai kingdom is based on chinese mythology? i like that. i also like indian architecture, like the cool ass rock cut structures. thats sick as hell. ill yap more about this when i nail down my inspos.

sparkling waters is greek inspired. language, architecture, fuckin everything bro. like i just picked up greece and put it down in the soupiverse.

the sand kingdom is largely mexico inspired but i dabble in a little bit of inspo from central africa. moreso for environmental stuff but im working on it. the ecology of chad. read that in the destiny of marge voice. i also like. language and cultural diversity. but ill do more research.

soda jungle is based on south american countries like venezuela and colombia. in terms of. most things. ecology, biodiversity, its a jungle part of a larger kingdom. where? idk. probably the border of sarasaland and another place. where? idk. can a white boy speak a lil spanish. maybe. iggy cant. but thats his problem.

you dont need me to tell you what the metro kingdom and new donk are based on. the metro kingdom to me is a lot bigger than it seems and spans basically what is the entire northeast us. shoving all those fuckass little guys into one kingdom. bye bye connecticut. get metro'd.

sky kingdom is largely german/swiss and japanese inspired. soup this is a weird mix I KNOW. traditional german architecture, leans japanese in my inspo for the language. like speaking japanese with a slight german accent.

i think wendy is the kind of person to be a little resistant to using powerups, with a tendency to overestimate her own abilities because she feels she needs to prove herself. shes the highest ranking woman in bowsers army and i do not think there are many others. so shes sort of got this expectation on her shoulders to be exceptional all the time come hell or high water. but no power ups to do it because then youre clearlyyyy not on the same level as the guyssss and you need assistance to be great so youre clearly nottttt youre just a girllllll.

ahem. i think sexism is prevalent in bowsers military. as it is. everywhere. however that is perhaps a discussion for another post.

whilst shes resistant to using them, shes not entirely opposed. wendys stubborn but shes gotten better at knowing her limits over time and not pushing herself past her own capabilities just to prove to some randoms that dont even matter that shes just as good, if not better, than any man.

ive been thinking about a more alligator inspired roy compared to the crocs most of the others are based on. i feel like the wider less tapered snout is more fitting for him. soup you fucking idiot you cant see gator teeth with their mouth closed and gators are generally smaller than crocs yeah yeah mind your business we take creative liberties here at mississouppi inc. also i dont care. roys got a shorter skull and sturdier jaw than larry. because. um. um. um. i said so. also in game the roy and morty models have wider snouts and builds. do you read these paragraphs? gaf about my explanations? i have no idea.

and then i coloured larry because i. fucked up roy. soup how the fuck do you forget the absolutely massive character design hc of HES FUCKING ALBINO???? yeah idk either. oops.

anyway. larry. longer flatter snout. maybe a tad too long in this drawing given im not 100% on his inspo. i do like the patches of more green-teal scales on his shoulders, i think theyd definitely continue on down his body like his elbows and the sides of his thighs and down his tail. im really shit at drawing stars. i think its probably a birthmark that's coincidentally very star shaped but probably not exact.

have you seen albino gators? this was largely unintentionally represented in my doodle, but they have a sort of pink hue to them, and i like that for roy. some of the pink scales are genuinely Pink. bing bong genetics shmenetics. and others are a sort of blushing from the blood vessels being more visible, especially on thinner skin like around the eyes.

do i know why they have a pink tint? no. just go with it. im not a scientist. well. i am. just not this kind.

SO CUTE. do you see the blushing around the eyes im talking about. this. his eyes are lilac though because i like it for him and it carries over from my humanoid roy.

also the gold tooth. the real one got knocked out in a fight and he thought ehhh go big or go home. so he went gold. cunty. so fuckin gay dude.
