MIT, Missionary in Training

I have responded to the call of missions and have created this page to raise support, It is my desire to share Christ with everyone! :) My name is Sheyenne Overton and I am currently a sophomore in college, majoring in Missional Ministries (Missions). I woke up one day and felt that the Lord was calling me out of my selfish and materialistic ways into a life of humility and service! The Lord called me to be a missionary..me! If you were to understand who I have been and how ungodly I have acted before, you would be just as shocked as I was. But I have learned that God changes people. He changes hearts and behaviors, thought processes and attitudes. He changes lives! For real! I have responded to His calling over my life and have traveled to Mexico, Haiti, and Honduras, all in the past eight months- HE PROVIDES! I know that He has called me back to Mexico this Christmas break and I am praying endlessly about where He will be sending me this spring and summer and forever. I would appreciate it so much if you could partner with me in these endeavors and donate any amount that you can. Missions is so expensive, but the change in someone's eyes when you've told them about Jesus for the first time is priceless, therefore I will never let the cost hold me back. I have recently answered the call to be a missionary, and since I am young and still have school and things, I, for the moment, can only participate in short-term mission trips. But eventually, I will move wherever God wants me, and the only thing I will do is proclaim the GOOD NEWS for all my days

! In July 2013, I will be going on a mission trip to Honduras and be doing an outreach program to the ENTIRE nation!

On July 20, 2013, hundreds of Honduras’ political leaders will attend a conference in the heart of the nation’s capital. American and Honduran influencers will address the core issues the country is facing and conclude with a challenge for people to put their trust in Christ! In fact, President Lobo-Sosa signed a resolution declaring this day a national holiday and gave signed legal authorization and full support for hundreds of partnering mission groups, like the one i will be serving on! This summer I have signed up to join a team and adopt a city!

In the days leading up to the crusade we will canvas the city through street evangelism, school assemblies, hospital and orphanage visits, and drama outreaches! As we infiltrate every demographic and help to actually facilitate this major event, I will proclaim the message that a return to God is the hope for Honduras! The total cost of this trip is $2,520.00, this covers airfare, food, evangelism training, etc. The funds also go towards providing food and clothing to the people of Honduras! I ask that you prayerfully consider donating to this cause and that you be praying for me, my team, and the hearts of the people of Honduras, that God will capture them and make them whole! Thank you!

One of the greatest feelings in the world is seeing mission trip testimonies/pictures/videos and just getting so worked up and excited inside. But also, disappointed with having to wait patiently.

Lord, You are so good to me!!

I was in this boat about a week ago, and now have a friend who is. She can't figure out where to go over the summer on a mission trip, this is the advice I prayerfully gave her and wanted to share: "Make goals. Like pick a date that you're going to make a decision by. And a financial goal. Like let's say you choose March 24th as the date you choose by, you want to set you halfway fundraising goal for two months after that, May 24th. ask God to revea l His plan through your fundraising. Start fundraising, fasting, researching the places, digging into scripture, and truly let God guide you. Drop everything about where YOU want to go. Don't pick a place. Let God romance you with a people group and cause you to fall in love. He may send you somewhere you haven't even looked into going yet. Be at peace."
