Distractions

“My alone feels so good. I’ll only have you if you’re sweeter than my solitude.”

She seems so cool, so focused, so quiet, yet her eyes remain fixed upon the horizon. You think you know all there is to know about her immediately upon meeting her, but everything you think you know is wrong. Passion flows through her like a river of blood. She only looked away for a moment, and the mask slipped, and you fell. All your tomorrows start here.

I don’t know how to answer. I know what I think, but words in the head are like voices underwater. They are distorted.

When I get lonely these days, I think: So BE lonely. Learn your way around loneliness. Make a map of it. Sit with it, for once in your life. Welcome to the human experience. But never again use another person’s body or emotions as a scratching post for your own unfulfilled yearnings.

I think I fall in love a little bit with anyone who shows me their soul. This world is so guarded and fearful. I appreciate rawness so much.

Not everyone can feel things as deeply as you. Most people, their feelings are … bland, tasteless. They’ll never understand what it’s like to read a poem and feel almost like they’re flying, or to see a bleeding fish and feel grief that shatters their heart…

Here comes another end before another beginning, and because man is perhaps more afraid of the mundane and the immutable than he is of change, life is segmented into years that divide time into promises and hope, we think ah I’m so glad this year is over as though it were another life we were shedding the skin of, and we look ahead at January saying I sure hope it’s a good year, but things don’t change at midnight and we find ourselves in the same bed as yesterday, where is the tomorrow we promised ourselves?
