Who Ordered The Fireworks?

He hesitated outside the iron-rod fence, peering through the black bars at the old stone building standing proudly behind a neatly groomed front garden and courtyard. Fingers traced over the worn copper plate mounted just outside the fence - if there were anywhere in the world that could help him learn to control (or at the very least aim) the Beast inside – the Xavier Institute would be it.

Bruce Banner took a deep breath, ran his hands through the short, wild curls on his head and pressed the call box button. Introductions were made and the gate buzzed open. He hefted his backpack and strode in along the driveway to the front door. He wasn’t sure what he’d find past the threshold, but he wasn’t disappointed.  Oiled wood panels and darkwood floors. Bannisters and Persian rugs on the floors. It was quieter than he was expecting – but it was mid-day. Perhaps classes were in session?

His eyes found a plaque hung on the wall, small arrows with names beside them pointing the direction to the various portions of the estate. He spotted what he was looking for, followed the directions through the narrow wooden hallways and found the door he was looking for. A gentle knock preceded him poking his head in, clearing his throat in hopes of announcing his presence and pushed the door open to find the room empty.

Huh.

“Hello? It’s Bruce Banner… I … Uh.. I have an appointment with a Ms. Lee?”

Pause.

When she was jogging around the corner towards her “office”, he was already standing there waiting for her.

Sooooo, I won’t be around at all on Wednesday.

Why you ask?  Well, because I will be in NYC to see my most favorite band of all time, U2!  

I have been a fan since I was 12.  I’m now 34 (almost 35, ackk, shhh).  Concerts take a lot of energy out of me, but they are so worth it.

Are you kidding? Did you see Four? Before the Colonol said “NO EFFING WAY BUDDY” ? 

Look at this nerd.  If the Colonol hadn’t been there to put a big red X on the previous three - the fourth would have been wandering around in sequins. 

My favorite part was the Colonol going “Well. It’s not as weird as the rest of them and we’ve run out of time for this. Let’s go. We have a giant robot to deal with.”  and THAT is what settled the final ‘look’.

She played with her hair a bit and sighed again.  “I know a few people in SHIELD.  I couldn’t be doing this recruiting thing, looking for other mutants without bumping into them.  Not all of them are bad.  And Phil knows what its like to be different.  So Phil and I, we became friends. He told me about his family. His little girls are going to be treated just like we were.  One has blue skin, one has grey.  Even if they ‘technically’ aren’t mutants, they’re going to be treated like they are.  And one of them is deaf too.  So when he was talking to me about schools, I suggested the mansion.  

“Well, they shot him down.  And apparently I ‘should have known better.’  I probably only still have my job because of the Professor.”
