Misfits '95

My dear fiends, I don’t know how many of you are still reading this blog, but with what is happening with Michale lately I think I have something to say.

I created this blog a long time ago to support Michale and his Misfits, because even though they were something new and different they were brilliant and amazing in their own way. I always respected Michale as an artist and I always will, because he’s an amazing artist. What I have to do is distance myself from Michale as a person, and specifically his political views.

As you probably know already, Michale made clear on his now-suspended social media that he is a supporter of white supremacy hate groups like Proud Boys (along with other quite radical right views) and even though I fully believe in freedom of speech and expression because everyone has the right to express their thoughts and believes freely even if I don’t agree with them, I have to distance myself and disagree with ideas that harm or put a limit to freedom of others, no matter what political view they belong to.

We’re living in a time of change, a time where discriminated people are fed up with being repressed and having their rights stepped on and want to finally put an end to this inequality. I think that HUMAN RIGHTS have no color or political orientation, they go further than that. Human and equal rights are not an opinion or something you might agree or disagree with; they are a matter of fact and denying them is wrong, no matter if you vote blue, red, yellow, pink or green.

I will always respect Michale’s musical persona and art, but I can no longer support him as a person. What I wanted to make clear is that this blog will NEVER be affiliated or support hate groups that don’t believe that people of all ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations and religious beliefs deserve the same RIGHTS and FREEDOM.

I don’t know if some of you still are interested in this blog or not, but as a white, straight, cis person is my DUTY to stand for the ones who are being oppressed and discriminated by others that belong to my same category and send a strong message. Privileged people HAVE to stand and fight for those who don’t have the same privilege and are invalidated by our society so that we finally can achieve an actual state of EQUALITY where EVERYONE is EQUAL and have the same RIGHTS and FREEDOM.
