To let them talk about a person they had missed from the past.

“… H… hey…”

He’s shaking. He’s so hungry. His stomach is chewing itself up and he needs… he needs something.

Kasie leaped back again, seeing that he seems to be getting hungrier and tired, she assumed.

Folding her wings, since she was sure that just leaping away would help her escape, she stayed at where she was, taunting for him to lung at her again.

Alright, fine. The king exhales loudly as he steps back. All the air rushes out of him, leaving his frame… and then he Inhales. He Inhales as hard as he can, intending on doing what he does best.

She felt herself being sucked in, and panicked, spreading her wings out, attempting to fly out, horror crossed on her face.

“… H… hey…”

He’s shaking. He’s so hungry. His stomach is chewing itself up and he needs… he needs something.

She backed away again, this time her wings nearly getting caught by his grip. So, he wants blood to feast on now. Maybe a smaller prey can subdue his thirst. 

“Then go find something else to feed from! I can go get a mere squirrel, that will do!”

The king stumbles, smacking against the ground. Looks like a failed Dedede Tackle. Dedede stays there for a bit, facedown in the dirt. It would be more comical if he wasn’t so literally bloodthirsty at the moment.

“… H… hey…”

Her instincts kicked in and she leaped away when he launched forward. A couple of feathers fluttered everywhere as she landed, a couple of feet away from the King.

“What were you trying to do?!” She yelled, now a bit confused and angered.

Power of the stars, speed of the stars… 

He remembers when he stole the stars. Such speed… such power. He’ll need it if he wants to get to that sweet red stuff.

Unfocused eyes attempt to lock onto the target as she jumps and lands some ways away. How annoying… he just wants somthing to drink. That’s not so bad, right?

“… H… hey…”

“A drink? L-like water? I can go to the nearby stream to fetch some!” Kasie suggested, prepared to fly off, spreading her dull-colored wings out.

“… H… hey…”

“K-keep what down? What do you need?” Kasie asked, now getting even more concerned.

She squeaked and stepped back when he began to bite his own feathered fingers. “S-stop that! You’re hurting yourself!”

He didn’t stop until it hits his tongue.

What he’s been looking for, and didn’t even realize it until now. Blood. Ah, yes – that’s what he needs.

The king’s hand falls away from his mouth, as if his arm has gone limp. His expression turns… very neutral as he eyes this stranger. As if they’re…
