Okay, back to what he was saying. “Yes! Please show me around! Drying off would be nice, too. I’m Crystal, by the way.”

“Then first we should go to the dorms! I can see if Kouhai-chan is around to help you. If not, there are others who can, and when you’re dried off properly I can show you around~”

“A PERSON!” She grabbed onto his shoulders and looked at him with equal concern.

“For a school, there’s barely anybody here! I’ve been wandering around for so looooooong, and I dropped my map in a fountain and it dripped all over meeeeeee! I’m supposed to be a new mentor, but I’m lost.”

“Well everyone is currently in class, or working on assignments or monitoring the progress of their juniors.” Which was what he had just finished doing.

The email had sounded sketchy. After all, who asks someone to be a mentor at their school when they have never met? But her negative thoughts were squelched when she saw those fountains. They were paying for some high-quality water here. Therefore, this must be a top quality establishment.

She ran over to one, then the other, then back, then th-…… “There goes my map…” The ink ran off in the fountain and she was left with a soggy paper. Picking it up, she set off toward the building, praying she could find her way while dripping water all over the floor as she walked.

After having spent some time with Otoya and Tokiya, Reiji made to leave the building to return to the apartment he shared with Quartet Night. There were many things he needed to prepare for tomorrow, and not a lot of time to do so. He could always pull another all nighter, but his body was recovering from the last one, which made the idea a not so great one.

As he opened the door to head outside, he noticed a woman approach, dripping head to toe as if she had fallen into a lake or pond.

“Are you with that big group of people I saw roaming around earlier? I’ve never seen such a big group go to a mall before. Seems like it’d be hard to shop with so many people... “

Logan scowled, arms folded across his chest in annoyance. One sleeve of his sweatshirt hung off his shoulder in its usual manner, part of his tank and his peachy skin exposed. He hated unannounced trips - mostly because he couldn’t ditch….Which was precisely why they had done it. A quiet growl built up in his throat, and Areo, the Hydra science teacher, shot him a look that instantly made Logan quiet but also glower even more.

For the love of all things magical, did they really have to come to the human realm for an observation trip? Was it this “experience is the best teacher” crap they’ve been spouting since day one? Whatever it was, Logan wasn’t happy about it. Now he was stuck with all these other creatures giving him the evil eye.

Hey, he did them a favor by skipping class ninety percent of the time. If he had the option, he would’ve skipped this trip, too.

Well, no use sulking about it now. He was here, and he might as well pay some attention.

Hours later, they were set loose to do their own “personal observation,” and Logan immediately made a beeline for the fountain behind the building called a “mall.” There he might actually get peace and quiet and no deal with all those condescending stares.

When it came into sight, he immediately sat on the edge of it, and ran his hands through his lava colored hair. At the same time a frustrated sigh passed through his lips, he heard a small sound that sounded suspiciously like splashing. Peeking around the edge of the sculpture set in the middle of the fountain, he found a woman, older than him in terms of human appearance.

Cute boy spotted.

Initiate contact.

Crystal swam over to the boy, popping up behind him. He’d probably think it was weird she was in the fountain, but...it’s a bit too late for that.

“IS THE PLACE IN SIGHT YET?! ARE WE ALMOST THERE?!”

“It’s not quite in sight yet, but we’re almost there.”

After a few more turns and street crossings, they arrived at a quaint house, nestled at the edge of the city center. It was white with brown trim, nothing really unusual about it. Still, it was a decent size. Miranda beamed back at Crystal.

Miranda couldn’t help but chuckle to herself at her friend? acquaintance? and her enthusiasm. It was cute.

“Seems like you’re prepared. That’s good.” Miranda smiled, and sensing that the girl might explode any minute, continued with, “Let’s get going. The others are probably on their way.”
