Edit 5:35 pm on 7/14 : In a Tiktok Corina has said that “things are being fixed”. They can’t give details yet though. Brandon (Tomo’s VA) has also come out and said “they haven’t heard anything personally” but is glad that things are heading towards the right step.
Despite things going on the upwards trend now, unions like SAG-AFTRA protect people from situations like this.

If you didn’t know, multiple Eng VAs from Genshin Impact are coming out about the fact they haven’t been paid—literally one of them being Paimon, the character with the most voice lines in the game.
I really want to urge people to support the Eng VAs going through this stuff and potentially going homeless because of lack of pay.
If you want more information, here’s Tomo’s VA (Twitter Thread) and Paimon’s (Tiktok) explaining the situation. Corina (Paimon’s VA) in particular has not been paid for their work since December 2022
Edit 11:47 am 7/14: Hoyoverse actually commented on the situation and said: “We truly regret to learn about the ongoing situation. Genshin Impact values and respects the work and effort of everyone involved, and we support our voice actors to claim their proper due. We have made payments to our recording studio on time, and we immediately urged the studio to pay our voice actors from past payments. Meanwhile, we are also seeking alternative solutions. And will keep you posted on further developments”
So this helps confirm it is Formosa’s, the Eng branch recording studios fault. During the 2016-2017 video game actor strikes, Formosa was one of the game companies they were striking against for unfair wages and not being paid in a timely manner.
In addition, voice actors are indeed included with the SAG-AFRTRA. Although Genshin is NOT Union, it should be in order to prevent people from not getting paid in a timely manner.
So with that being said. How can you help? Well the biggest way actually is
Stop supporting voice AI
On TikTok there have been many trends stealing Eng VAs to say whatever. Alhaitham’s and Zhongli’s seem the most popular within the Genshin realm, which again is not okay. One VA in particular, Erica Lindback, Futaba’s from Persona 5, expressed her discomfort any was send so much hate she deactivated Twitter.
Genshin’s own Erika, Erika Harlacher-Stone, who plays Venti, also discribed her discomfort with AI and people stilling her voice to say whatever and was met with a lot of hate.
Don’t interact with it. Don’t support it. These are people, not just characters
And finally If this push for unionization goes through for Genshin, support it. Support them. Their skill and acting gives life to the character we love so much.
