Isnβt it strange how weβre always holding on for something? A film weβve been waiting months to see, a concert, a holiday, a book, a simple day circled on the calendar. We count down the days, then the hours, then the minutes, letting the anticipation carry us through ordinary moments. Somehow, having something to look forward to makes us feel a little more alive.
And then, before we know it, it arrives.
For a little while, time seems to stand still. We soak in every second, wishing we could bottle it up and keep it forever. But moments arenβt meant to stay. They slip through our fingers almost as quickly as they came, and suddenly weβre on our way home, carrying that familiar ache in our chest.
Itβs a bittersweet feeling, the kind that comes from loving something enough to miss it the moment itβs over. Youβre grateful you got to experience it at all, yet your heart quietly mourns the fact that youβll never experience it for the first time again. That version of the moment exists only in memory now.
I suppose thatβs one of the strangest and most beautiful things about being alive. We spend so much of our lives looking forward, only to realise that the moments we longed for were always destined to become memories. And somehow, despite knowing theyβll end, we keep finding new reasons to hope, new days to count down to, new moments to fall in love with. Maybe thatβs what keeps us going. Maybe thatβs the quiet beauty of life.
