Wanda read the postcard about a hundred times now, carefully pouring over each word. She held the card to chest as if her heart would be etched with Mittens. Tears streamed down her cheeks, mixed with sadness and joy. She was overjoyed to hear that Mittens was doing alright but sad that she had to leave to find it. But the joy was almost overwhelming, the thought of Mittens being happy, just being out in the world and living in joy that’s what she needed to hear. Wanda wiped away the tears and placed the post card on her dresser. For just a moment a small smile danced on her lips, just for a moment.

Skye read the message over and over again. When people left Skye, they didn’t normally get into contact with her. Granted, she had learned that most of the people she knew in the past were dead, or in Miles’s case, he was stranded in Tokyo with a bracelet that didn’t let him use electronics. The point was, people just didn’t do stuff like this with Skye, so it meant the world to her. She was glad to know her friend was okay. She even started to tear up over the email, wiping at her eyes as she typed a reply.

Did you know when I met her I wanted to hit her in the face. Just smack and run. But I think Groot would have been upset with me. And then I wouldn’t have a friend. But I didn’t! And now I have two friends! She likes food but I like making food so do you see how this works, it’s great. But she also gets it. Do you know what I mean. Gets it. She knows. Wanda taps her nose, nodding. We are going to read Dr. Seuss cause she’s going to learn Russian again and Dr. Seuss has easy words. She can be the Cat in the Hat!  She’s like kitten, meow, meow. Kitten. But kittens have claws and Mittens has claws. Mittens…kittens…She laughs. I’d put my life in her hands, cause we’’d probably come out alive, maybe not in one piece but I think the important matter is we’d come out alive and how many people can say that! Not many, cause unless you’re друзья with Mittens then ha! Your chances of coming out alive just when out the door! She’s my friend. And I’m really glad I didn’t smack her. Or punch her. Or kick her. Or push her into water. One point for Wanda Magdalena Maximoff!
