Welcome to MIRACULPA, a multimuse for assorted media, as penned by Matt (29, he/they, ze/hir, it/its).

Each muse will have specific trigger warnings/primers in their summaries when added, but topics discussed will include mental health issues, medical discussions, death, beheadings, and assorted horror & horror adjacent topics such as vampirism.

I have multiple muses who either are actively involved in polycules (Ramli and Nac, who even if shipped with others are inherently involved with each other), have them as an important piece of their backstory (Osode, whose polycule granted her the son she loves so dearly, and also taught her better boundaries after losing both people), could have been helped by entering into one (Kazama, whose misery would've been avoided if he'd entered a "history would say they were very good friends"; Maio, whose entire plot is being at the center of a love-nexus that almost breaks him because he doesn't get time to access it), or would otherwise be happy in one (like, say, Tatli, who loves the idea of loving and being loved by multiple people, and the Netherworld has different ideals of love and relationships). As such, I'm going to say full stop that there is no option to ignore these muses, treat them as lesser or gross, or frame their method of love as wrong or bad -- I would prefer to be blocked in such cases. I have also made posts on all of these muses, save for Tatli, being polyamory adjacent: this is not a new development.

Suzume isn't a frightening horse, not to Kazama: her sleek white coat and gentle brown eyes, the toasty cream colored spot around her nose (and the little pink ring at her nostrils) -- she may be large, of course, but she's hardly so frightening.

Yet Mahiru seems to shirk and shrink away, folded almost inward; making oneself small before a horse is not always the best course of action. They frighten so easily, after all, and can be injured or sickened at the drop of a pin. He keeps a hand on the horse's neck, unbothered. (Getting the animal to sniff the girl's hands is a good introduction point; less weird for her to go through than how he'd been taught, allowing a horse to blow and sniff and huff on him only to gently huff an exhalation back into the nostrils).

Hakuouki, being originally from the 2000s, aged poorly in some aspects. Namely: Chizuru's age is canonically 16 despite all the romance routes being people over 20 (save for one iirc). While it makes sense in Kazama's case bc he's a confirmed bachelor [coughs fag coughs] dodging marriages, in the case of the others, it's weird as hell. None of the rereleases ever bothered adjusting her age. For this blog, Chizuru is treated as being 20-22 across her canon -- because fuck, man, I don't want Kazama's queerplatonic smth or other to be stuck marrying people she's That much younger than.

I do intend to get into it, but Kazama is treated as breeding stock by the narrative as much as Chizuru is. The problem is the narrative, even in his routes, does not investigate it or meaningfully dismantle it. He canonically claims to want kids (strong kids like his family wants) but the promise of kids terrifies him. He'll be your brother he'll be your uncle but being your dad? That's a nightmare scenario. He doesn't want kids. His bloodline dies with him.

I know I call Kazama the worst man ever in his blurb and that's bc he starts out as such. It's also a facade that's meant to be dismantled (even canonically) and I'll get into that. His personality is a protective mechanism because he's a square peg in a round hole, forced into heteronormative society with a highly traditional culture of origin.

Hakuouki does set it out but again never really Interrogates it or what it means for Kazama (and Chizuru too actually), but the oni are framed as an indigenous group who are a human evolutionary offshoot that culturally believe their survival traits are like. Superior. Bc they have predatory eyeshine and stuff. They've been othered by humans to a point of living in small, withdrawn societies. I wish we saw more of that. What we do know is that Kazama does not solely see human society as a negative, instead as a place he can be more accepted than by his peers, and with his queerness factored in it's a fascinating intersectional marginalization read because of his not wanting to fully abandon his background, but wanting to live among people he's learned are not the weak monsters he was raised to believe in.

They still primarily exist in p3 with cameos in p5 during their music career.

no longer just an alternate star social link with an "optional" SEES membership. They become a SEES member by the end of the summer REGARDLESS of what you fucking do now.

While maxing them still gets you a version of their initial persona, Arachne, they now have an Arachne ➡️ Clotho pipeline with their personas to symbolize feeling bound by blood and cursed to feeling as if they make their own fate now.

Their social link max out item is their old, tatty plush Bunny, who was inherited from their uncle. Bunny has seen things. Bunny is more patches than fabric. You've been given the honor of Bunny.

Their newly adoptive brother, Shion, is part of the "porting tkdb characters to persona" thing I did, as such he's attending a college funded by a Kirijo Group rival that's creating artificial persona users and sheltering adult ones. Shion's 23 and scares everyone, but he's...nice...sorta.
