Haha, yeah. I want to assure everyone that I have not put the fic down for good, but it's been a while since I've made real progress on writing, so it might be a while yet before there's another update.

Of the many reasons he has for wanting to get away from here, the prospect of just having time to sit and talk and not worry about chatrooms that need supervision or fatigued channel hosts sure is one of them. The prospect of being able to talk in person, to curl up next to Karkat and hear his voice - He realizes, suddenly, that the conversation has moved on without him.
Is there a trick to writing realistic gamzee dialogue? He's really hard to write because his speech patterns are really weird.
It's a little hard to put into words.
There are a few specific idiosyncrasies - "but (explanation or elaboration on previous statement), though," extremely casual use of profanity in general and "motherfucker" in particular, his tendency to use incongruous prepositions, the way he constructs nicknames. On a broader level though...
Ok, really, the thing is that a: most of what comes out of Gamzee's mouth is free verse and b: Gamzee is a just terrible poet. The way it sounds is important; he likes to hear himself talk, less in a "full of himself" way and more on a "making the words go is soothing to him" level. Most of the time he knows what he's trying to say and he gets there eventually, but it's very stream of consciousness and he's easily distracted.

I got Tavros' adult name by falling down a the-crossword-solver.com hole until I went crosseyed, much as I do most of the names of adult characters in the fic.

Sephar's name is derived from astrologer Walter Gorn Old, who published under the name Sepharial, and who in 1918 proposed the existence of Lilith, a second, smaller and darker colored moon of Earth.
