        Carl fixated his eyes forward, listening to the repetitive startling sound in the silence… His breath hitched for a moment as his eyes caught sight of what he thought was something to be frightened of, one of the dead, but no. ❝ It’s nothing, just a stupid tree branch. ❞

Meghan lowered her hands, relieved that it was only a "stupid tree branch".  "So, there's nothin' out there?"

        He stood slowly, looking back at the other momentarily with a finger pressed softly to his lips. He cocked the gun, as he rounded the corner, the small click of the metal hung as the only sound in the air for a moment. 

She nodded at him, beginning to cover her ears to protect it from the sound of the gun. She watched with furrowed brows, waiting for whatever it was to die, again.

She went quiet, Meghan wasn't about to argue with Carl.

"You know, it could be a lot worse. We could be one of them, but we’re still here, still alive. We still have a chance, you know?”

"But it's still no fun bein' out here."

"I’m never—- I repeat.                                                                                                                     Never, going out there again."

"Jesus, are you okay?"

         He takes her little hand anyways,          and spins her round, round, round. 

She let out a giggle as she spun, but soon found herself becoming dizzy. "M' all dizzy now- I told ya' it wasn't a good idea."

"Lost what?"

"Your family."

" — If you have something to say just fucking spit it out already. You’re not doing either of us any good standing there thinking I don’t see you."

"We need to find safety, we can't keep moving around like this..."
