Has someone taken your faith?
Gin sets his ipad aside on the kitchen table and neatly tucks his chair away. Lifting his arms up wide for a stretch, he gazes over at the clock on the kitchen microwave just to realize it's nearly 2am in the morning.
he finds himself navigating to a softly lit orange room to climb into his side of the bed next to Taiga. As he opens the door gently, Taiga perks up:
Gin sits down on the edge of the bed and replies quietly, "Yea, I finished up that fashion spring article on my blog- why are you still awake? Are you having a hard time falling asleep again?"
"No..." she whispers; and lies.
Gin wraps up Taiga in his arms "Well... Then I hope you weren't waiting for me to join you in bed; you know my work requires a lot of my time... I can't always predict my schedule, I need to be ahead of others."
Taiga contradicts; "I know, it's not that... I'm just glad you're here."
She buries her face in his plaid shirt, gently caressing him while closing her eyes. For a moment she pictures the face of Buford, his warmth caressing her back. The faint smell of orange blossoms brings her back to reality; glitching back to Gin's face and present energy.
Although they never discuss the topic amongst themselves; Gin knows that Taiga is still dealing with the remnant feelings from the loss of Buford. His intuition doesn't fail him, and in his mind he knows exactly why Taiga is awake.
He never brings it up - but in this moment, he has a sting of jealousy. All he can do is prove himself to be her number one, rather than a second place to a ghost of a person he could never out-compete.
He holds her tightly while his heart races with ache and anxiety over the thought of Taiga potentially not loving him to her fullest.
"I love you more than anyone else in the whole world..." these misdirected re-affirming words said aloud to her seemed to ease his nerves.
They were words that Gin so deeply had wished to be said to him...
