Found this interesting small booklet at MoMA bookstore. Each page or spread accompanies Freud's letter or note on his shopping experience and photo(s) of objects he acquired in his summer vacation, mostly in Italian cities. Freud wrote: September 1896 BOLOGNA We will probably have the chance to buy some trinkets here. I bought two photographs. FLORENCE Shopping is more difficult than one would think - one could easily spend a lot of money. September 1897 BOLSENA Etruscan tombs, purchase of antiquities, wonderful panorama. September 1903 MERANO There has been practically nothing to buy. I will only bring something back if you tell me what.

Brittany, July 10, 2015. I made this image during Bobbie Lane's lighting workshop at ICP School. It was challenge for me because it had to do with everything I don't normally do in picturemaking: photographing people, using artificial lighting, and setting up situation. This one week was interesting and challenging. I love Bobbie Lane for her enthusiastic and well structured teaching and sharing spirit.

Today is the last day for a group show that I am a part of with two of my tree pictures from "encounters" series. On the left, it is "Two Poplars, Bois de Vincennes, France, 2010" and on the right, it is "In the Snow Storm, Gillette, NJ, 2010." Both pictures were made at night using 6x7 medium format film camera. Left picture made without tripod, right picture made on a tripod. Right picture was made during a snow storm. They are black walnut trees. My neighbor decided to cut those two years ago and sadly they are gone now. Black walnut tree is my favorite tree. Poplar trees are abundant in Korea but not in the USA where I live. They bring me back to my childhood memory in Korea. Both pictures are framed in maple wood without glass or plexigalss. I like viewers to see my pictures without struggling with reflections. Quiet Saturday morning, making things... Paper cut is fun! Finally I am doing it...

"Nightwalker" installation at the Nabi Museum of the Arts. It is my first solo exhibition and I am glad that it is this installation with photographic prints, sound, and video. All with subject matter of nature. The exhibition runs from October 4th to October 24th. Opening reception is on October 11th, 5-7pm. I made a public participation program that is to draw a tree in the sketchbook. Already handful of people participated today.

This portrait was made during an artist-in-residence in Halsnøy, Norway in 2013. It is included in a group show at the Kiernan gallery in Virginia. The opening reception is tonight. 

Today we (another residency artist Juliette Agnel's family and I) went to the island of Stord to see the theater performance to celebrate Sunnhordland Museum's 100th anniversary. Sunnhordland is western region of Norway and  Sunnhordland Museum operates several local museums and institutions including Halsnøy Kloster where I am doing an artist residency. The theater event was organized and performed by the museum staffs and it was superb! After the event, we went to the Sunnhordland Museum to see the inside of folk museum and were offered to eat famous local fish soup. Many women were wearing traditional costumes and they were so beautiful. It was a day devoted to get to know some of local traditions, which became basis for my project later on. I especially liked to listen to people speaking Norwegian language on the boat and in the theater.
