But in canon, HL never really shows the same obsession?? If you get me? Like he seems to find Butcher interesting and all that but he never completely looks at Butcher and only Butcher?? Except for maybe the whole Scorched Earth deal convo in season 3? But that honestly never made complete sense to me, even tho that’s my favorite scene in the show. But like—why did HL want Butcher, a human man, to be his big final battle?? Did he just respect him or?

Sometimes I think I’m so infected with Butchlander that I can’t see what the writers meant when writing a scene other than they were saying ‘yea they are kinda gay.’

AND TBH this is a rly good ask and ive thought abt this a bit before and i do think that HL doesnt give that much of a shit about butcher in the beginning of the show. like, he finds him interesting to some extend, u can see that during their meeting in madelyn's house. but then he totally forgets about butcher . and i do like how one-sided they started out, it really feels like butcher is just this ant trying to pick a fight with god that barely notices him

but i think it changes once HL sees butcher walk away with something that he thinks is his, and im talking about ryan here. once he sees that butcher managed to "steal" from him, i think thats where he starts to take genuine interest in him, he finally notices him for real. and i think he finally realizes that butcher is Serious when he means he's coming for him. and HL never had that before in his life, he had haters, but butcher is like. a Devoted Hater. one of the few redeeming qualities of s5 is HL saying that to butcher, noticing how much he had changed for him (got powers etc)... thats Dedication and nobody has ever been this dedicated to HL. like yeah the public loves him but its surface love. vought treats him as a necessity, madelyn lied to him, maeve secretly hated his guts... butcher was always honest in his pursuit of HL and i think thats what makes him tip over into taking interest in butcher too.

so i think that butcher's power of haterism could elevate him to a final boss scenario to HL... tho it is a bit stretched. i think that scorched earth was still HL toying with butcher, he didnt take it seriously, that was him saying to butcher 'do your brand of chaos in peace, i'm busy fighting vought rn but when its over, i'll come after you'.

I DO THINK THAT THE SCORCHED EARTH MOMENT... was lowkey smth the writers came up with to explain why HL didnt just kill butcher and let him scheme in peace. i think they couldve just gone with ryan angle instead of making this weird deal... but then again... we do love the scorched earth in the b/utchlander community dont we folks FGHIFGH

I’m afraid it’s not a very unique AU, really it’s another “what if zim was depressed” story, but with headcanons and random lore.

I call it Misprint/Misfit and the premise is Zim is defective because his pak was applied upside down, he’s a misprinted irk drone. The misfit part comes from Dib because…well he’s like that.

After the events of the florpus I’ve decided the armada and control brains are completely lost and cut off from irk and zim by proxy, and Zim slowly realises he can’t connect to the tallest anymore. His world-conquering plans get more and more pointless until he loses steam completely and shuts himself in, resigning to his exiled status.

Meanwhile Dib still tries to fight Zim’s increasingly stupid schemes until he realises Zim is practically useless to irk now and pivots to Swollen Eyeball, but he is labeled a hack (or something) and kicked out. To top off his life, Professor Membrane is trying to force him into a science-based life and puts him in Membrane labs against his wishes.
