I commented on a fic that was 11 years old, and there was already a response by the time I got up the next morning. Comment on the fics, please, comment on them, I promise it'll make the author's day either way

I think my oldest fic on AO3 was written in 2002 - 24 years ago now (it would have been 22 when the OP was originally asking). Occasionally someone finds it, reads it, and leaves kudos. Maybe someone will leave a comment one day, and I'll probably reply. Because I share my fic on purpose - I want to give other people a chance to enjoy the things I enjoy. A comment means someone enjoyed my work enough to say so. But kudos or comment, I'm chuffed either way.
