Every year, I challenge myself with a big Illustration to track my progress. ☺️

Last year, maybe I didn't feel like I went big enough,😅

so this year I got really ambitious XD !!

And I think I nailed it !😊✨

just got off the phone w a friend who was just chased down by the cops

he was camping out (legally mind you) near a bridge in my city

he literally had all the legal documents taped to the outside of the tipi just in case police was walking by

it was near a spot where a very small ice protest was happening

he barely slept last night because he had a feeling he'd be rudely awakened

and he was completely right

very few people were conducting a peaceful protest (including him) against ice, and out of nowhere, the cops pulled up

they had their hands on their guns and started grabbing people, so he ran

he's a kid, man, literally 17 years old, and he started running out of fear for his life

no one was doing anything wrong, but the police were ready to shoot

when they caught up to him, they threw him on the ground, but he managed to get away

he ran maybe a couple blocks before his knee buckled and they caught up to him again

he was driven home in handcuffs, and his mom had to answer the door confronted by police and seeing her son like that

him and his mom are living out of a motel right now, living off of dollar tree food and struggling to pay their bills, and the last thing they need is some kind of bullshit lawsuit. neither of them work and his mom is disabled so they get checks from the government on the first of every month, but it's not enough at all

this guy is honestly one of the kindest people i've ever met, despite how aggressive he might come off or how other people perceive him

he was let go, but they're trying to take legal action against him for genuinely no fucking reason

he's been through enough in his life, and doesn't need this kind of dickhead treatment from the people that are supposed to protect us

it doesn't help that he's mexican, so honestly i'm just glad they didn't hand him over to ice

i've been trying to help him out with money as much as i can, but i don't have a job, so i've been going online and seeing if there's anyone willing to help with money

i'm gonna leave his cashapp at the bottom of this post in case any of yall are feeling generous

i had more respect for the police, but since i've been friends with this guy, that respect has just plummeted
