As I promised to @sakiyaki-sashimi ages ago, hereâs a post of me showcasing my eight main characters! I have a truckload of other characters, and one day Iâll show them all to you, but for now Iâll settle on the Itopians.
Iâll put them under the cut, after I explain who they are and what the setting is. Warning - some aspects of the setting may change with time! Iâm not as good at animating as I wish I was, so the web series I want to make about them will have to wait another decade, but Iâll showcase them now so that you know theyâre mine)))
The setting is the multiverse. I know, very original, but listen. In the multiverse is a little pocket universe called Itopia, created by a person who lived long ago enough for everyone to forget their name.
Itopia exists so that people with special Itopian portal devices can travel the multiverse and fight strange monsters that appear all over it, as well as heal the multiverse by destroying especially unstable universes. As a pocket universe, itâs well-suited for all the Itopians and helps them in any way it can, even though it (probably) isnât sentient.
At the previous day (June 2022 to the main characterâs universe), after many generations of Itopians had changed, there are seven people there. The main character is a teen girl who got there as a new recruit, and the others will eventually become her treasured friends!
Now that the summaryâs done with, letâs show them to you. Warning - spoilers for a future project that might never even exist!
This is Minerva, or Minnie.
Sheâs the aforementioned main character. I know she looks familiar, but sheâs not me. In fact, sheâs my alternate self - weâre similar enough for me to understand her, but we do have differences.
A 14-year-old girl, she entered a portal to Itopia one day, which proved her curious enough to be a true Itopian (as her mentor put it). Now sheâll experience many strange adventures: entering her own dreams, befriending gods, dragons and angels, becoming a skeleton, a shadow, a piece of cosmic energy, touching the moon, walking upside down, creating new universesâŚ
By the way, that last ability is pretty rare! Itâs commonly called âimaginationâ. Only people with imagination can create new, stable universes; those without it can only create short-lived unstable ones. That makes Minnie really precious in the multiverseâs eyes, but makes her question herself a lot.
Sheâs a teen, so she has a pretty unstable psyche - but sheâs usually friendly, curious, excited and confused, albeit easily angered.
Alright, next one!
This is Gala.
Sheâs been in Itopia for ten years, since she was 15, so sheâs a pretty competent (if irresponsible at first) mentor to Minnie.
(Her eyes? Natural. Her hair color? Natural, including the tentacle-like smooth texture. Itâs normal for her universe. Sheâs still considered 100% human.)
Sheâs goofy, friendly, and striving to be as cool as possible. Sheâs that one person who calmly says âwhoopsâ after mind-shattering catastrophes but hisses âFUCKâ after dropping a pencil. In other words, level-headed only when someone needs her to be.
That doesnât mean she doesnât have any berserk buttons. Insult her boyfriend of five years, Justin who she calls Just and loves him dearly? Get an axe to the face. Say sheâs a bad mentor to Minnie? Get crushed under the weight of her yelling. Ask about the red bracelets on her wrists? âŚget only silence and a quiet plea to never ask it again.
Oh, and when she glances at the camera saying something directly to the viewers? Yep, she can do that too. Thatâs rare as well, itâs commonly called Breaking. Itâs a thing youâre born with - when you randomly get the understanding that âOh, hey, Iâm being watched! Might as well say hi to the guys, donât you think?â So she realizes that sheâs in a cartoon, but she knows itâs alright - every universe is fictional to all the other ones, after all.
This is Liliana, or Lily.
No, sheâs not a furry, and she doesnât even know what a furry is. Sheâs a feline. A species of anthropomorphic cat-like creatures who have (on paper) the same rights as humans (and sheâs not a cat, thank you very much! Itâs like calling a human a monkey! They have the same ancestor, but they arenât the same. Thatâs one of her berserk buttons.)
Sheâs a timid and kind 23-year-old, but much braver than she was nine years ago, when she came to Itopia. A nice girl through and through, sometimes she canât help but feel⌠used. Doesnât help that she has a⌠questionable home life, one that would definitely be tagged as âDubious Consentâ on AO3. Despite that, she does a good job being friendly and open, loves being an Itopian and is really devoted to her friends!
Her saliva has a healing effect that allows her to near-instantly heal open wounds by licking them; though she canât heal fractures or sicknesses, sheâs still a useful Itopian to have around. It does make her feel a bit like a tool rather than a person sometimes, but sheâs always able to snap out of it.
This is Chris.
The oldest of the Itopians (35 years), heâs also the only one using his real birth name, as well as the only one from the same universe as Minnie. He opened the portal she first entered Itopia through, and he was the one to briefly introduce her to the multiverse.
He tries really hard to be the only sane man - heâs responsible, a bit strict but not harsh, and levelheaded. Has a habit of calling people by their full name, something his apprentice Rok took from him. However, he does have a childish side as well, and itâs not like he hides it or anything. Heâs a schoolteacher, so itâs only natural that heâs good with kids.
Some time after becoming an Itopian, Minnie will notice that Chris is being a bit⌠secretive, especially when asked about a certain thing he spent years on researching. She will pry further, looking for answers, and she will eventually find them - question is, will she like them?
This is Kryonis, or Kryo.
The only known son of the Ice Elemental and the older twin brother of Ruta, this 22 year old can freeze water in a ten meter radius. It means he can create ice from the water in the air as well as liquid water.
Cringe name? I know. He chose it himself when he was six, so did his sister for herself. You see, their mother didnât exactly want them, so she never bothered enough to give them names.
(Also, donât get distracted by his pointy ears. Itâs not a sign of his elemental heritage, itâs what all humans in that universe have. The same thing as with Gala, honestly - the definition of âhumanâ differs between universes.)
Heâs harsh, a bit cruel, definitely has a sadistic streak. Heâs not above killing people who just happen to be in the way - at first, at least. It certainly helps that he can instantly freeze all water in his victimâs body, if theyâre close enough. Who ordered a human popsicle?
Not to say he doesnât have a heart of⌠well, maybe not gold, but at least silver. If anything, he loves his sister more than himself. Of course, heâs near-constantly irritated by her many shenanigans and threatens to strangle her every half hour, but if she needs his help, heâll thwart armies and move mountains - and the feelingâs mutual!
This is Ruta, or Ruty.
Sheâs the younger twin sister of Kryo, who inherited immense physical strength from her elemental father. That, by association, means sheâs also more resilient, more durable and has more stamina.
Yes, their hair is different colors. Yes, itâs because Kryo has ice powers. No, I didnât intend them to be copies of Elsa and Anna. No, I will not accept criticism on this matter (any other matter is okay).
A jolly and whimsical young woman, Ruty is probably the least serious of the Itopians. She doesnât know what a tasteless joke is, and can joke about pretty much any topic. Including her own untimely death.
Yeah, she died once. Right in Kryoâs arms. It wasnât pretty. Luckily, they managed to work together to bring her back, but it still was a major (MAJOR!) trauma for them both. Sheâs coping so hard. So is he. Naturally, he does NOT like her reminding him of that day. She does anyway.
Fun fact - sheâs left-handed. It has no bearing on the plot, just wanted to flesh her out a bit.
This is Sugar.
Heâs the youngest Itopian, only ten years old. Heâs a dragon, a Sunrise, to be exact - thereâs Sunrises and Sunsets in his universe, at cold war with each other for three hundred years.
Sunrises sleep at night and wake at day, like humans. They can breathe fire, and their wings are stronger than those of Sunsets. Their names are linked to all things warm, bright and day (for example, Sugarâs real name is Midday, his mother is Amber, his father - Beach and so on).
Like any kid his age, Sugarâs playful, kind and curious, if a little insensitive and cowardly. He can be very brave, though, if needed. Loves his friends, but most of all his family - and he has a big family! Wants to be a knight when he grows up. Thinks like an adventure novel. Apprentice of Ruty.
A ray of sunshine through and through. Good kid.
This is Ragnarok, or Rok.
A troubled teen a few months older than Minnie, heâs the only Itopian whose real name exists but isnât known. This grey sweater heâs wearing? Oh, thatâs half of his wardrobe. Donât worry, he washes it.
Your typical angsty teen, but with a hint of multiversal wisdom. Very angry, at everything that moves, including himself - hell, ESPECIALLY himself. Has tried to cut his veins open when he was nine - didnât know where they were located, made a mess of his stomach, came home all bloody. Never cut again, but considered other ways to⌠exit the game.
Can kill people. HAS killed people. Never hurts children. Likes warmth, the color green, hot chocolate and his friends (though itâs hard to earn his friendship). Hates pretty much everything else. Swears every third word. Is so honest that itâs pretty much his motto.
His life is⌠rough. But thatâs a spoiler. All you need to know is that it involves a disappeared rapist and a very young grandmother. Understandably, his primary motivation to live is revenge.
Donât worry, he too thinks his name is cringe. He was twelve when he made it up.
Thatâs⌠all?
Canât believe I waited so long to finish this draft. Probably gonna pin it, in case people get interested.
@jazzfromthevoid , these are the guys Iâm writing for you about. Just so you know who to picture in your head while you read.

Silly Game Time: They just updated the operating system that controls reality (oh, by the way, your reality is a simulation controlled by a reprogrammable operating systemâsorry about that) and it's now impossible to use all the swear words people used just yesterday. What is a replacement (or some replacements) you would suggest people use from now on?
I wouldâve called Ruty to the stage, but she is an OC of mine and doesnât exist in this universe. Sadly. Regardless, sheâd have some suggestions - âfridgeâ and âshieldâ are among her favorites.
(What do we call fridges and shields now? Well that wasnât the question, now was it?)
Silly Game Time: The Fae have spirited you away to Fairyland ... By which I mean, during your day-to-day activities, you happened to stumble by accident through a fairy circle nobody (including the Fae) knew was there. Where did it turn out this unexpected, accidental fairy circle was located?
Be as specific as you can. Not in way of an address, but more than merely "at work" or "at school". For example, "in the storage closet that smells like mildew" or "in the science room with the weird dent in the ceiling".
Baby, since I have almost this exact kinda plot planned out for my darling Minnie over there (well, if you replace the fae with a 35 year old guy called Chris⌠who knew where the portal was, to boot, given that HE put it thereâŚ), I know the exact fucking location.
Behind of our local shopping malls, in that small tree-filled area. Thereâs also a plum tree growing nearby, and one time I saw half a kilo of chocolate-covered snacks just lying there on the ground. And I took them. Because free food, and because Magpie Instinct.
Silly Game Time: While mowing the lawn yestereve, I happened to come upon a baby nue (a Japanese manticore, basically, with the body of a tiger, a snake for a tail, and a monkey's head) hiding in the grass. This is remarkable, as I don't live anywhere even remotely close to Japan. Like, there's an ocean and a lot of continent between me and Japan.
But anyway ... I guess I'm going to be raising it now. Any recommendations for what I should call it?
For whatever reason, the only name in my mind is Vriska. Even though the creature does not resemble a spider nor a scorpion in the slightest.

Silly Game Time: COMPLETE THE PHRASE! "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands. But if you're ___ and you know it, ___."
Stressed and you know it, fuck it all and sleep. You wonât remember the neglected duties in half a year, but your body will remember the stress forever
Silly Game Time: Coming up with a fitting name for an original character is one of the trickiest parts of character creation. Yet I think it's also one of the most fun challenges! So what do you think would be a good name for a character associated with water?
This could be based on literally anything, including just vibes. But ideas could come from mythology (gods and spirits and heroes and monsters from different cultures). Or history (figures who famously studied or thought about or worked on water). Or media (many different stories, games, and movies have characters, classes, and species who are connected with oceans, lakes, and rivers). Or simple word association derivatives (for example, with "fire" you could get "combustion", which could then give Combu, Ombust, Stion, Costio, etc.).
Silly Game Time: TWIST THAT TROPE! "There are nature spirits who protect various regions, but the twist is ___."
(Every story is made of tropes, just like how every sentence is made of words. Still, some tropes can feel a bit overused if a storyteller doesn't do something different with them. What do you think could be an interesting variation to this trope? It doesn't need to be elaborate or surprising or original, just something that might appeal to you personally.)

Almost four years ago, I was sitting in the kitchen. No one but me was home.
A perfect moment to listen to a song.
The song was from the creators of a series I liked and like, and it had story significance. It was not their only song. It was touching, but not the most touching song I had ever heard. Logically, it should not have impacted me at all.
But at that moment, I understood something. Understood so clearly, so sharply, that I think a shard of it is still lodged into my heart.
âThey made thisâ, I thought, suddenly. âThey made this. They are humans, like me. Their brains arenât that different from mine. Theyâre just two people who like their creation. I am also a person who likes her creations, if she has them.â
And then, I couldâve - shouldâve - thought âif they made something good, and theyâre humans like me, it means I can do something good too!â
Instead, what pierced my brain was âI havenât.â
âThey have impacted peopleâs lives. Look at the likes, girl in the mirror, look at the comments. People love what they are doing. I love what they are doing.â
âThey have done something Good.â
âThey have Created.â
âI have not.â
I tried shaking this thought off, but it stayed.
âI have not.â
âI will not.â
âI will never.â
I didnât even notice how my cheeks became wet, but when they did, there was no stopping it. It was me, the kitchen, the warm lighting and the realization that the fourteen years I had under my belt were all for absolutely, utterly, nothing.
Nothing I had ever created impacted the world. Not a single stranger had ever praised anything I had done - and strangers are the ones that matter, because only they are unbiased.
I was there, doodling my worthless ideas, when there were kids my age producing priceless works of art. I was there, thinking that whatever trite rhyme I came up with was poetry, while there were people out there weaving tapestries out of words - words I knew, yet they could master them and I could not.
Nothing, I thought, nothing differentiated me from all these wonderful people - except they Could and I Could Not.
It was then, with swollen eyes and burning cheeks, looking more like a bloated alcoholic than a fourteen-year-old girl, I made a decision.
âTen yearsâ, I said out loud, looking down. âIn ten years Iâll be 24. If, until then, I wonât have created something worthwhile, something that people will like, love evenâŚâ
I paused, not wanting to say this. But I still did.
ââŚthen I donât deserve to live.â
It was too vague of a wording for me, so I altered it:
âThen I must kill myself.â
It was settled.
I marked it in my brain - ten years from now, when I wonât have the excuse of being too young anymore. Either I Can, or I Cannot. Either I Create, or I Create Not - and in that case, why even waste air?
Now I like to think it has changed. Now I look at myself in the mirror and smile, because I want to love what looks back at me.
But when I see talent - of any kind - talent stronger than mine, which is most of them - I feel fourteen again, and no matter where I am I feel myself sitting in the kitchen, listening to the song that others have Created and I have Not.
Iâm almost eighteen now.
Thereâs slightly more than six years remaining.
I donât want to think about what will happen once they run out.

Silly Game Time: Who are some equine (horsey) characters you really like, and why? They could be literal and entirely animal (horses, donkeys, etc. who act like animals do). Or characters who are animals with some human behaviors (such as the ability to think, speak, and act like humans, etc.). Or characters/creatures who are defined by being part equine (like centaurs, unicorns, qilins, etc.) or temporarily equine (shapeshifters, people who are cursed into an animal form, etc.). Or they could even be entirely human, but just have those vibes in your opinion.
They can be from any genre of any media (movies, shows, books, comics, games, etc.) (OCs count, too, if you like). All that matters is that they are equine-coded, and you like them!
Franziska von Karma from Ace Attorney (there is also Bronco Knight but I donât like him that much, personality-wise. Do enjoy his role in the story though)
Josh from Detroit: Become Human (his animal form would be a pony, methinks)
Every character I like in MLP, which I wonât list
Curly and Anya from Mouthwashing
Silent Salt Cookie from CRK
Luna Lovegood from HP who is a unicorn to me. Also, Firenze
Loam from Hollow Knight: Silksong
Max CantĂŠ/Pegasus, and his kwami Kaalki, from Miraculous Ladybug (writing all the names from memory sorry)
Equius Zahhak from Homestuck
AL-AN from Subnautica Below Zero
anyonestillrememberMiaandMe anyway Onchao, among other unicorns from there
Moonlight the unicorn, who I created for Karindia my imaginary land
When I was fourteen I started writing a book (which is discontinued for now) which featured a morally ambiguous woman who could turn into a horse. So - Virika Enar, my dear creation who may or may not ever see the light of day
And this beauty! Her name is Angarag (or how are you supposed to spell it in English⌠itâs a Mongolian name meaning roughly âemberâ), but I call her Anya for short
Silly Game Time: Everybody's getting ice cream! (Or a dairy-free substitute like sorbet if your dietary restrictions so require.) What flavor will you choose?
Pistachio, always and forever!
