i have a costume related question, how do you make midare toushirou's costume? her dress looks fitting on top but seamlessly flared on the skirt. please answer me
Heeeey, sorry, there were some holidays in the way so uhm, hope I'm still in time?Okay so, looking around on the internet, I see this oficial image
and some cosplay
so the cosplay is made with a half circle skirt (maybe even a full circle but given the reference pic that seems excessive) and for this it would be best that you cut the top separate from the skirt and then sew it together. It's not impossible to cut it all together but the way the fabric sits won't be as pretty and you'll have some extra fabric in the middle of the front and the back that you'll just have to do away with by eye.But just looking at the reference image, if you want the skirt to be tight fitting until say, your hips and then flare, you can make a 4 pannel skirt. This is done by taking the measurement of your waist and dividing by 4, doing the same with your hip measurements and then continuing or drawing out the line that comes out of your hip. In this case the seams of the skirt will go under the white lines.I'll explain step by step:- get your waist and hip measurements, the (vertical) distance between them and the lenght you want the skirt to be, starting from the waist.- get the paper for the pattern and fold it in half- mark the lenght of the skirt and the distance between the waist and hip
- then take the 1/4 of your waist and divide by two, same with the hip and mark it as so. Then trace a line that connects the two.
- then continue that line, or if you so prefer open it even more (pink line), but don't go over a 45ΒΊ angle or the skirt will look wonky. Also add more paper if you go outside the paper, that was a drawing mistake on my part.
- now simply run a straight line from the place you marked the lenght of the skirt till the angled line you just drew. Cut the paper while folded, open up and that's your pattern. Cut 4 of those in fabric and you have a skirt.
Hope that answers your question, if you have any doubts let me know!

AHHHHH so sorry, tumblr didnβt show any new messages!Okay so, to do that you can sew horse hair on the hems as shown here https://rufflebuttcosplay.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-Putting-in-Horse-Hair-Braid-CLAMP-Ruffles-288848575and/or sew a strong fishing line into the hemsHope that helps!

Great cosplays! I have to ask tho, for ur sakura/princess tutu cosplay, and ur milk from sakizou (?) cosplay, how did you make the skirt looks fluffy? did u use horsehair? or just a good petticoat?
Hi, thank you very much!So for sakura, sakizou and all my other full circle skirt necessities I use this petticoat.
I used 3 layers of regular tulle and 2 of a ticker, stronger tulle, I don't know its name in english but it's like a type of bridal tulle?? it looks like this
and it feels more cotton-y than horsehair, I think if you ask for the stronger tulles at your fabric store you should find something like this.It makes for a great petticoat as it doesn't take up much space when you pack it and puffs right into shape when you wear it. I've had it for 5 years and it's starting to drop a bit now but it still offers great puff.About the princess tutu one, I needed it to look like a proper tutu so I used a couple layers of tulle and wire. It's just been hanging out on the top of my closet for a while so it's a bit messed up but it looks like this.
