milly had been giddy since she woke up, and as soon as she heard the knock on her door, her heart began beating faster than before --- she was excited. she had spent practically half of the day getting ready, which resulted in her asking ket for some help ( which ket gladly gave ). rushing to the door, she pulled it open with a happy smile. “dexy!” she exclaimed, giggling softly. “i am more than ready. i’ve been ready since i was born.” she joked.

milly’s eyes flicked between the bottle of chocolate milk in hershey’s hand and the empty wine bottle beside him. she frowned. “hey, hershey,” she said, bunching her lips at one side. “are you ---” she began to ask, but came to a quick stop at his request. with no hesitation, she reached through the window and grabbed the keys from the dashboard, slipping them into the pocket of her jacket. “are you alright, dude? you look kinda --- and i say this with love --- shitty."

milly had been planning to just walk passed hershey’s house on her way back from town, but when she heard the familiar voice as she passed the familiar car, she paused, backtracked, and moved to the car’s open window. poking her head in a bit, she tapped gently on the windshield. “hershey? ... are you okay?” she asked, an evident frown upon her features.

“how did everyone know?” she puffed out her cheeks, shaking her fists playfully at zane. “i don’t understand --- i didn’t even know!”

“DEXYYYY — THE CUTEST PERSON I KNOW. THANK YOU FOR PIGGY BACKING ME AND FOR GOING ON A DATE WITH MEEEE. I WOULD GIVE YOU THE WORLD TOOO —”

“SOUNDS FAKE, FEELS FAKE --- you were and are a fab brother, okay? so, shut up about being a bad brother or i might kick you in your nose! love youuu!”

at zane’s words, milly uncovered her face, now frowning dramatically. “you knew? what the fuck do you mean ‘you knew’?” she put her hands on her hips, puffing out her cheeks.

milly smiled and hugged him as tight as possible without hurting him. her heart was pounding in her chest, still feeling excited. stepping back once he let her go, she nodded. “perfect! we --- can can ... figure out a date? like, a day to go on the date ... whenever works for you, works for me!” she assured, letting out a small, relieved sigh.

she let the silence hang over them for a moment, briefly wondering if she’d said something wrong. when he broke out into a smile, though, she did too, nodding quickly at his question. “i-i am,” she assured, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink. “is that ... is that okay?” her smile turned a bit shy, but it was still bright as ever.

milly rolled her eyes playfully, but still leaned forehead to whisper the secret --- she didn’t want anyone else to hear, after all. “i think i sorta ... kinda ... love? ... dexyyy.” as soon as the words left her lips, she moved back and covered her face with her hands.

milly smiled and nodded when he assured that, for the most part, he was alright. “that’s good, that’s good! i hope you heal up super soon~” she said. “i know, i was worried, too. but i’m okay, and you’re okay, so ... it’s all a-okay!” she squeezed his hand gently, giggling when  he shook hers back and forth a bit. “we should do something like that again! i mean, you know, not necessarily a dance ... and definitely not the ursula thing, but --- something with ... just ... i don’t know? ... just us ---” she smiled shyly.

okay, so i am going to tell you the biggest secret i’ve got,” milly began, slowly raising her pinkie, “and i need you to promise that you are not going to be a punky-punk and tease me about it.”

at zelda’s blush, the tiny girl narrowed her eyes. “your heart ... you said something about following it? why are you following it, though? like ... what about? and where is it taking you?”

milly made her way to dexter’s bed, standing at the side of it. “i’m glad you’re doing better! are you injured at all?” she asked, scrunching up her nose. “oh, i am a-okay, dexy! don’t you worry about me!” she smiled at him. “you know, before the whole ursula thing happened ... i had a really nice time with you at the dance. i’m really happy you asked me.” absentmindedly, she reached out to gently take his hand in hers.
