like it was not shown explicitly but i believe george trusts and loves reynolds. they seem pretty close. he would notice discreed looks and brief smiles. because reynolds is always very put together and the only time he is slightly not, brimsley is around.

and yeah charlotte might be too focused on her own dramas but brimsley is her right handman, and that woman loves a great love story. no one can tell me that she was not rooting for them.

like i'm 99% sure that;

*george and charlotte sometimes goes to bed early bc the yearning looks brimsley and reynolds are giving to each other is too much and they just wanna end their misery

*whenever charlotte and george is disagreeing on something, brimsley and reynolds are also having an argument and vice versa

*charlotte and george definietly orders bunch of wine and grapes to their room and then are like "we are going to sleep, take these wine and grapes yourselves they do not need to go to waste" and than they are very smug about it

*whenever george need relationship advice he goes to reynolds and reynolds will give these advices with such adoration in his eyes to the point george is also extremly fond of brimsley

*on the other hand while Charlotte actually likes reynolds, she is also a little jeloaus of brimsley's affection bc he is very dear to her

*when charlotte is angry at brimsley, she makes sure reynolds is too busy to spend time with him and that is the worst punishment

*ofc its very very unofficial and kept as a secret but charlotte and george trust brimsley and reynolds take care of their kids and they are like their godfathers and the kids love them

Like seriously the comfort of the dinner in bed scene in Ep 2 is just off the charts. The fire crackling, the candles lit. Reynold's head on Brimsley's chest, just lounging against him, even though he is by far the taller. Brimsley giving him the glass of wine(are they sharing it? I bet they are) and then smiling chuckling as he lifts food to his mouth but as the chuckle is gone, he's turning back to Reynolds.

It's so easy for them. This quiet post sex intimacy of sharing food and wine, talking and smiling together. The image that the storm is over and they have each other. (It's why I reject the novel that they were just fucking around at the time, it's clear that there was something between them by that point but that's a whole nother post but if it's novel verse sign me up for fwb to love match!)

(I also love the idea of Reynolds lounging on Brimsley and Brimsley feeding him, the novelization basically confirms that Brimsley was the superior in the bedroom and that scene kinda suggests that it wasn't JUST sexually but for a little bit, Reynolds could drop all pretenses and worries for George and just let himself be cared for and spoiled and let someone else lead and I think he probably needs that SO MUCH, needs the headspace Brimsley can take him to and I honestly need bottom!Reynolds fic so much so Reynolds can just get a break from being so strong and perfect)

And the bathtub scene where they're just talking quietly and letting each other see how much they want a lifetime and asking "do you think it's possible?" but their voices make it clear that they're not hopeful. That George can make it. But they both hope it to be so. For them and their King and Queen. While just gently rubbing each other's arms and drawing nonsensical shapes. Just at the peak of trust and unguardedness and comfort.

I just think it's something we don't get a lot in Bridgerton. Intimacy. It's all grand gestures and sex and while the Ep 2 hurried make out and banter was perfect, Freddie and Sam genuinely SHONE in those quiet moments of an established couple. I wish we got the stable scene so badly.

I have absolutely no idea how to play chess but??? the cinematography??? the storytelling??

I love the way it didn’t romanticize her vices and the way she didn’t go crazy like how her first interview went, the whole “creativity goes hand in hand with psychosis” thing and also the way she did overcome those vices by learning from her mothers’ mistakes AND because she had friends who cared ?? that’s amazing. In the end when she was able to visualize the game on the roof even without the pills and alcohol which showed that she was still talented even without being high or intoxicated or whatever... that was really nice. Like they showed that you don’t need to take addictive substances to be worth something or to have that talent and skill, I feel like that’s a really nice hopeful (and TRUE!) message to anyone who would see the show.

The show wasn’t black and white Women vs. Men™️ thing like... yes chess was dominated by men during that time like everything else was it was just a fact, and a girl/ a woman, rising through the ranks was something men were going to find appalling and maybe threatening as well but besides that and the realistic way magazines and newspapers paid more attention to her being a woman rather than an excetional chess player at first was... it was good.

Also love the way they didn’t put too much focus on romance and how at the end she had a group of people who helped her and backed her up. She started as a lone wolf player and she learned how to learn from others and work with others and that really emphasizes the whole “no man is an island” thing like... look at what happened when she lost her adoptive mother? she got out of that funk when Jolene showed up and had been there with her. I just- I love how they showed the importance of friendships. That was amazing.

And and and!!! the “she’s too glamorous to be considered a serious chess player” like... I love that. she was both someone who was very feminine and also very intelligent and talented and... the duality??? girl I can’t 😩 the message that girls don’t need to just fit into one box and that they can absolutely dominate their field without having to conform to some standard of how people see the usual presentation of professionals in that area of expertise??? YES

I mean Anya was just *chef’s kiss* and I was so delightfully surprised when Thomas Sangster showed up looking like a cowboy 😩🥰 just brought me back to tmr days I swear 😂
