this was the worst day on earth. walking home in the sweltering heat had incited sweat to break out all over you. your head was pounding from the constant in and out of air conditioned rooms.

and worst of all, you’d failed an exam that you’d spent countless nights studying for.

water had been filling your eyes the entire day but the tears had stayed in their place, until now.

you entered into the apartment after forcing the door to unlock by aggressively jamming your keys into the hole. walking in, ofcourse, your sleeve just had to catch onto the doorknob and make your keys fall with a loud clatter. your final straw.

your gaze is glued to the stupid keys on the floor when toji who had already been in the living room gets up to greet you.

“hi sweetheart, how was y’er day?” he asks, only to be met with glassy eyes and a pink-tipped nose.

his eyebrows raise and he’s already wrapping his large muscle-packed arms around you, pulling you in for a tight hug. “woah baby, what the hell happened?”

he asks softly but the sobs that pour out of you take away your ability to properly answer. your arms hang limp at your sides as you bury your face into him, tears streaming down your cheeks.

the muscled arms around you only tighten and nearly swallow you whole—exactly what you needed after this shitty day.

“wanna talk about it, sweetheart?” he tries again, a warm big hand moving to rub the small of your back.

you hiccup slightly in between sobbing. “failed my—stupid fucking exam. and my head hurts. and I hate my life.” you mumble, letting out a watery laugh that crashes into another sob.

you’re crying and embarrassed, thinking about how your boyfriend is probably incredibly confused and possibly turned off and you failed your exam.

he lets go of you briefly to put your bag aside and help slide off your shoes before he’s scooping you up, taking you to the couch.

“poor baby, I’m sorry my sweet girl.” he murmurs, low and sincere. he sits with you in his lap and arms immediately wrap around you again like a stubborn vine.

you pout a little with quivering lips when he looks back at you to assess your expression. tears continuously stream down your face, leaving it wet and hot. “this is so dumb, I’m sorry.”

he has a stupidly endearing look on his face as he carefully tugs up the bottom of his shirt and wipes your face with the soft material. “it’s not dumb baby. fuck that exam and your shit professor.”

you nodded with a loud sniffle, a small smile threatening to crack. “yeah fuck him, he is shitty.”

toji’s lips lifted into a small soft smile. “mhm, that’s my girl.”

you snuggle into his arms and bury your face into the warmth of his shoulder. a sigh leaves you, he hugs you tighter. “thanks for being here while I’m a mess.”

a soft chuckle makes his body vibrate against you and he presses a few kisses to your temple. “‘m always here for my sweet girl, especially during her monthly meltdowns.”

you laugh weakly and hide your face in him, melting against his comforting hold. “shutup..”
