Hello :) I assume we are talking about bullying here? Hate-talk? Racism?First of all, I think it’s completely normal to feel bad in a world like this. I believe knowledge and education are power and give you tools against intolerance and stupidity, therefore I started to study psychology. When you understand human mind, this world makes more sense. Thinking logically I prevent myself from getting mixed up into pointless negativity. It’s important to protect yourself against immature people who think that their problems should be your problems too. That’s not the case, everyone is responsible for their own mental health. Being a good person does not mean putting up other people’s crap, not online or in real life.

Social media is full of negativity, and it’s harder to get rid off bullies even if you’d ignore them. If someone is harassing me, I ask them to talk to me directly (it usually gets quiet after that). Bullies are afraid of being put verbally in their place by the ones they picked out first. I’ve never met a bully who would not run away, when I challenged them to talk with me directly. Courage is about emotional strength, facing others in reality and that’s what bullies lack. Always set boundaries, ignore anon hate - respect is communication, a two-way street.

There are lot of racists, homophobic and misogynist bullies out there, who will never understand what respect means. Therefore it’s important to speak out what respect and tolerance are, and defend human rights. All people deserve to live free from violence and abuse, and should be protected, regardless of their skin color, gender or sexual orientation. When you accept yourself completely, that is the most powerful thing you can do. Bullies try to make you feel shame, but without shame, they have nothing. The shame is theirs, not yours.
