Hello, friends :> for the sake of organization, I'm remaking my masterlist post into something more of like...a quick guide?? primer?? idk. for my Vocaloid AU, Vocal Android! If you already follow this blog, thanks for always being here and supporting me ;v; if you're new, welcome and thanks for taking interest in this silly thing I got going.
So! What is this AU? The Vocal Android universe is a fan project/fan universe created by me, Mochagatari aka Mikunology, revolving around the characters for the VOCALOID vocal synth program and its affiliates (UTAU, SynthV, CeVIO, etc.). Iβve been working on this project for almost as long as Iβve been into VOCALOID (sooo...about a decade. somehow.), and itβs probably my favorite thing to work on alongside my original work. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy working on and talking about it!
This post will function as both a brief intro to the AU and as a masterlist of important or particularly notable posts about it. I highly recommend reading before sending asks :> Go under the cut to begin!
Before we get started, I want to lay down some things you should know going in, basically!
This AU is pretty much an eternal work-in-progress. Anything written here is liable to be changed in the future. (Iβll do my best to keep it updated!)
This project is NOT a webcomic, a fanfiction, or any kind of concrete "media"; itβs more of a weird sandbox and writing practice that I enjoy goofing around in. That said, I would like to make actual media like comics, animatics, etc at some point in the future. Justβ¦donβt hold me to anything. I mainly do this for fun and I have bad executive dysfunction.
Everything depicted here is MY OWN INTERPRETATION. Nothing in this AU is "canon" to any of the characters, so please don't take it like it is. Also, while certain events, characters, organizations, or locations are inspired by ones in the real world (Crypton Labs, for example) they are used in a PURELY FICTIONAL CONTEXT and do not necessarily reflect my or others' views of their real life counterparts. Everything here is purely for storytelling's sake and nothing more.
I tend to write this project in a sort of βcartoon showβ format, so everything is written in terms of βepisodesβ, βseasonsβ, etc. It's just a thing I do XD
Alright, now that that's out of the way, what's this AU even about?
Main Premise
In the not-quite-so-distant future, PROJECT: DIVA was created as an experiment on the part of scientific research company Crypton Future Laboratories to test out a strange material that could, theoretically, create energy out of emotion. Created in the image of pop idols due to music being known to bring forth a variety of emotions in people, the project's androids - CV01 "Hatsune Miku", CV02 "Kagamine Rin and Len", and later CV03 "Megurine Luka" - were equipped with this material as their βheartsβ and released into the world to discover various kinds of music. Since these strange βheartsβ allowed them to grow feelings just like humans do with each song they sang, they quickly aimed towards becoming stars for the public of Sapporo.
Until one day, when the city was attacked by a mysterious masked individual brandishing a powerful device, Miku and the twins' fear, anger and protective feelings towards their friends and fellow citizens caused them to unlock a new feature of their βheartsβ: super abilities! Using the powers brought forth by these feelings, Miku and friends (clumsily) defeated the villain and were hailed as town heroes. Since their feat quickly spread around the city, Crypton executives ordered the three to take up mantles as superheroes, much to Rinβs pride and Miku and Lenβs chagrin.
So basically, the AU revolves around Miku, Rin, Len and later Lukaβs escapades across the futuristic city of Sapporo as they sing songs, fight crime, and learn about what it means to be humanβ¦sort of. Kinda. Joined by their creators, the grumpy Dr. Meiko Sakine and eccentric Kaito Shion, their tomboyish human friend Gumi, and a plethora of other strange characters, much scifi-fantasy-musical cartoon hilarity ensues.

long ago I reblogged this one post talking about the idea of there being people in superhero settings who don't really keep up with superheroes and thus hardly know/care when they see them in public

Something I've been thinking about recently is this hc a friend and I came up with about how even though VA!MYK-IV doesn't remember what happened to him to make him a cyborg, he's developed a terrible fear of needles
He's normally pretty unflappable given his usual adrenaline-obsessed personality, but just the suggestion of a medical needle coming towards him puts a really scary look on his face.

I want to release the class list for Miku's school (Kenmochi) since it's more or less what I want it to be, but I wonder if I should actually like. draw everyone or just make a text post with the list...

randome Thought perhaps but that post about soyogi and tanaka-san reminded me of that trope in shows sometimes where, due to shenanigans or something, the main big bad randomly turns Good for one episode and everyone else is super weirded out at seeming them be genuinely nice w/ no ulterior motives for once - to the point that by the end of the episode when they inevitably return to their regular evil state, everyone's weirdly relieved lolll
not sure if something like that would ever have time to happen in the vocal android verse, but wondering how others would react if something like that happened to soyogi (from the main cvs, meiko and kaito, to even the voisona 4 and ofc tanaka-san herself) is very amusing to think about lol... especially tanaka-san, i'm curious why she's so bent on keeping him evil, like does she try and reason with him that its necessary to be ruthless for business like the pr assistant she is or does she just like her men evil????? π fascinating to me lol

you're right in that I'm not entirely sure if I'd be able to throw that in the timeline but it would be real interesting :>c tbh I feel like Kaito would just take Soyogi's new temperament in stride ("good for him!") but Meiko would be so creeped out by it. like who the hell is this guy. she already gets creeped out enough when she sees him with his PR persona on but this super polite and courteous version of him just makes her feel Weird
the CVs on the other hand I think would be (pretty rightfully) suspicious of him because Soyogi being genuinely nice is so out of character they figure it's part of a scheme but if they were decode the reasons for why his attitude flipped they'd probably be like "well at least he won't cause any trouble now, so I guess this is fine" :0c (or at least the kagaluka trio would - Miku I think would see what he's like and think "so he could be like this if things were different...hmm...")
and about your assessment regarding Tanaka-san...she's kind of mysterious like that so tbh you can interpret her motivations however you will but if you really wanna know what I think, 1) yeah she does like evil men lol and 2) I think she admires Soyogi's level of ambition and finds the concept of assisting someone so calculating and ruthless to be exciting. or something. (this is why I say they match each other's freak she's just as messed up as him and is arguably proud of it lolol)
