🗲 "Ah, right. The cold..." It didn't necessarily bother Ei's puppet body very much. She could still feel things that were hot or cold but there were no risks of her succumbing to them and so she often forgot that they were problematic to others. Miko surely wasn't in any danger from the elements either, but comfort would be an issue. "Of course we could hold it indoors? Perhaps somewhere with a lot of windows?" She was trying to balance getting the aesthetic with the comfort.
Miko accusing her of being "eager" flustered her further. "I... Well. I was merely proposing a possibility. I do not mind waiting a little longer. But if I was to speak selfishly, I suppose I would prefer to do it sooner rather than later." When it came to the kitsune she hardly exercised any selfishness. She was content just being with Miko, and so anything Miko wanted Ei would give her.
She gave Miko a twirl as they danced before pulling her in close so that the fox was pressed up against her. Ei kissed her on the forehead. "I love you, Miko. So I can wait as long or as little as you want to in order to have the ceremony."
Miko laughs. It's much too easy to fluster Ei, something that she loves very much. "Very well then, we'll do it as soon as possible." It didn't matter to Miko that much either, whether they waited or did it as soon as possible. After all, she had waited a little over five centuries for Ei before and would gladly do it again if she had to. She loved her that much and was willing to do anything for her, to be anything for her.
"We could make a day of it, go to one of the courthouses, and have them marry us immediately. I can even whip up the funds to buy a couple of wedding dresses for us. I know attire doesn't matter, but just once…I think I'd like for it to be at least a little formal." If Ei was that excited then of course Miko would meet her in kind. Miko kisses Ei's left cheek, then the right, until finally settling on her lips again though this time it lingers, more passionate than the last. When was the last time she felt this content? Far too long. Finally, everything they had ever wanted was within reach.
Finally, she pulls away but is quick to go in for yet another quick kiss. "I will be honest though, that I'm just a little upset that it took us this long to begin with. Though I suppose we both had things we needed to work through."
Part of 621 seemed to already potentially understand why people weren't going to listen to her. Then again, maybe an attitude like that was just what people needed to kick them into high gear. In the line of work they had it wouldn't get them anywhere but maybe the "book industry" had different rules to what worked and didn't...
"...Well the former I suppose? Though the later doesn't seem bad either." Depended on how the friends were. If it was any of the people they met it was doubtful the story would be interesting. Although the idea of the Redguns going on a treasure hunt of all things did sound somewhat amusing...
"Is that so..." What book a person chose to read could say something about them, but Miko found their half-hearted answer to reveal absolutely nothing. Well, other than the fact that they had a decent sort of interest as far as genre went.
"And would you still prefer the latter if a romantic subplot was shoved into it?"
🗲 Ei admittedly would have preferred a quieter gathering herself. Her reclusive lifestyle and the natural anxiety she felt when surrounded by people led her into that preference, but she would have done whatever Miko had desired. Considering her more boisterous personality she had assumed she would want a wedding just as boisterous, but clearly that wasn't the case. She had made an error and felt bad about it.
"Miko..." It wasn't the first time she had muttered the kitsune's name in such a sopping wet tone. It indicated that she felt guilty or sad. But she quickly picked herself up, helping guide Miko's steps on the dancefloor. Ei went quiet for a moment as she searched for the words. "If that is what you wish to do then I will make the arrangements. I hear mortals like to get wed in the winter season. We could arrange it sometime soon if you would like?"
While they were still dancing, Ei leaned in enough to give Miko another kiss. It was an extremely powerful thing to say to the Raiden Shogun, that she mattered. "We could do it even tomorrow if you'd like."
Ei fretting over what Miko prefers isn't new to her. Yes, she loved large celebrations filled with fun and laughter, but with something so personal to her, she felt that a more private gathering would be appropriate. That aside, she can't help but feel bemused at Ei's feeling that she's making her settle for something other than what she wants. Really, if only their people could see them now. The Raiden Shogun acting like a cat left out in the rain. It was cute, really.
"Winter weddings are nice, I agree. The cold...not so much, but that can be helped." Miko smiles, idly drifting off in thought as she imagines the thought of getting married in a blizzard. Odd, but certainly memorable.
"Tomorrow?" An eyebrow raises. "You certainly are eager, aren't you?" Not that Miko didn't feel the same, but it did surprise her. "After being together for centuries, you don't want to wait another moment, do you?"
"she's always there holding me close with gentleness I don't deserve"

🗲 "I would argue I know nothing about those things, but when it's you they just come naturally to me." This wasn't even uttered to sound smooth nor to come across as more romantic, they were just Ei's true feelings on the matter. No other woman, no other person made her feel the way that Miko did. She couldn't imagine speaking to someone else the way she spoke to her.
There really wasn't another person that made her feel this way. There probably wouldn't be another ever in their long lives. That was why Ei had proposed to her last year. She might not have been as openly intimate as Miko was but she was still willing to give Miko the intimacy she wanted. Because she was Yae Miko.
The two moved to the dance floor, Miko's hand in her own. It took Ei a moment to remember the correct posture. Hands on her fiancée's hips. Holding her close...
Ei blinked at mention of the wedding. "I would not say I have been putting it off. I've been... worried about how to proceed, however. You deserve the wedding of your dreams, but I worry that no one would attend... because of me." Even in Spirale she hadn't made a lot of friends. She was still unsociable and awkward. "You deserve to be the centre of attention." Which she couldn't be if no one came.
Though Ei's way of speaking to her wasn't laced with pretty words and often rather plain, Miko was fine with that. She hadn't fallen in love with the archon because of that. She was imperfect, yet perfect for Miko herself.
When Ei pulls her close, Miko's head falls to lean onto Ei's shoulder as they begin to dance slowly. "The thought of you putting it off never even crossed my mind," She reassures her, but as Ei begins to open up about her worries, Miko can't help but frown. "And so what if no one attends?" Yes, it would have been nice to have a few attendees come to see them be married, but that didn't really matter to her in the end, nor did she think it should bother Ei either. "I was thinking that it ought to be a little more intimate and private anyway...as much as I love celebrations."
"You're worrying too much. Just being able to do this is what matters most to me. You matter most to me."
🗲 For Ei, the desire to appear "cute" or "attractive" was not something that really ever crossed her mind. She dressed the part of the Raiden Shogun, her own outfit inspired by Makoto's with a twist of her own sensibilities. But when she was out of that attire she defaulted to things that were comfortable, not necessarily fashionable.
She didn't care if people made remarks about her appearance. But there was a notable exception in Miko. Her words had always stirred something in Ei that she hadn't been able to put a word to until they had been reunited. "Miko...", she whined at being called cute. Blushing true this time.
"..." Inazuma's Archon sat wordlessly as the kitsune mirrored her speech. Only to give a short chuckle after. "Is that what I sound like to you?" She had clearly been trying far too hard to sound as serious and brooding as possible. ...So it wasn't that far off the mark.
"Your impression could use some work, but you're cute too. Beautiful and elegant, like the falling cherry blossoms of Inazuma." To draw inspiration from the Inazuma that she loved was to give someone the highest of praise. She did not perceive qualities of beauty in herself, but to the Archon there had only ever been one woman she'd believed to be as beautiful as her homeland. Miko. Ei took Miko's hand in her own and squeezed it gently. "Would you like to dance, Miko? Just the two of us."
Now there's a smile and a laugh from Ei, both of which had been Miko's goal all along. It was good to see her be so carefree and happy, even if only for a little while. It was Miko's turn to laugh when Ei began critiquing her impression. She always took everything to heart, Miko's impression of her being no different. And then come the compliments. To be given praise by her lover was something that the shrine maiden relished whenever it occurred. "You really know how to compliment a girl and make her feel special, Ei." Though they had been together for so long, each and every compliment she received felt as though it were the first time again.
"You're asking me to dance?" She feigns surprise. She's teasing, of course, but really, it isn't often that Ei comes out of her shell. More often than not, Miko was happy to take the lead in their relationship in most aspects so she couldn't help but at least be a little taken aback by Ei's invitation. Not that she's turning it down, oh no. "Of course I do. I'd never turn down a dance with you." With a smile, she takes the shogun's hand and allows herself to be led to the dance floor.
"And I was hoping that we could…talk. Not about anything too serious, but it's definitely a discussion we've been putting off, I think. Our wedding."
🗲 It was slight, but there was a rosiness to Ei's cheeks that emerged when Miko complimented her. She appreciated being ushered away from the crowd, but the difference in their abilities to deal with social situations like these couldn't have been plainer. It was at times like this that she worried she was holding Miko back. Whether or not her fiancée was perceptive enough to realize Ei felt this way was a different matter though.
Miko's words came as a necessary comfort. Of course she wanted to only pay attention to her, but at the same time she wanted to use this as a training of sorts. She had to become braver as a leader for the sake of the relationship between herself and her own people. She'd never get there if she kept running away.
"I see... Then..." Ei reached out and gripped Miko's shoulders gingerly, pulling her in towards her so that the Archon could plant her lips against the kitsune's for a moment. "I will take that as my good luck charm. Since you have been staring at me more than anyone else."
Miko knew more than anyone how hard Ei had been trying her best. Attending such a lively gathering had only been one show of such lately, one that Miko had been proud of her for. Though the shogun's slight discomfort was clear, it slowly eased with the assurances of her partner. Eventually, what few people had been paying them any attention went back to their own dates for the evening and they were soon left in their own private little bubble, not much different from their daily life.
"How could I not? You look cute in anything, but I really outdid myself with our costumes!" Miko had always wanted to try switching roles, and Halloween seemed like as good of an opportunity as any to do it! Even if it was only for a night, it gave the excuse of it being just for fun and games. "What about me? Don't I look good? I should try giving some serious lines…"
"Ahem, ahem," She clears her throat and begins to give a sort of nasally over-the-top impression of how Ei sounded. "Inazuma shines eternal!" to which she can't help but burst out into laughter. It really sounded ridiculous!
"Well I definitely lived one of those things." Certainly not the later that much was for sure. With everything that did happen they'd be lying straight through their teeth to say any part was "boring". Maybe a bit lonely early on but Rubicon solved that part.
"So its kinda like shovelware then? Where people will just keep throwing it out to try and make a profit with some diamonds in the rough?"
Although they could agree with her about being drawn to them considering everyone's situation. Doubtful anyone could really take any advice from those stories but seeing anyone in a similar situation as themself did put some people at ease...
"....Though how dark and gritty are you talking?"
"Sure, but that's how amateurs operate. Pros only produce masterpieces. I can't speak for how any of the publishers and producers work in this city, only that they pale in comparison to my expertise. Pity that none of them want to listen to me either." But that's neither here nor there, her personal affairs don't matter at all in this situation, she simply got off-topic for a moment.
"The usual, murder mystery, gothic horror, noir, drama...the list goes on." And yet still, they looked a little lost. Miko sighs, "Fine, I'll pose two examples to you then. Maybe that'll get your head out of the clouds. So, would you rather a book about a detective who solves murders and arrives at some horrible truth after finding out they're all connected or a typical adventure story that spans a treasure hunt over years while meeting friends along the way?"
🗲 "Miko... I know that I left the costume design to you, but is it supposed to be quite this snug?" Even if it was, seeing as the couple were already at the party it was a little late for Ei to have said anything about the shrine maiden garb she was wearing. Well, it was Miko's outfit in the end. While the two women were of similar stature it went without saying that there were some sizing differences.
It had been Miko's idea. Ei was to go as the head of the overseer of the Grand Narukami Shrine, and Miko was to go as the Raiden Shogun. Ultimately that had meant an outfit swap of sorts.
The almighty Raiden Shogun seemed to get a little shy when she was out of her element. And that included dressing in her partner's clothing at a party. "Are you... sure it looks alright? I get the feeling I'm being stared at..." Probably more by Miko than anyone else.
@mikoalesce
Truthfully, Miko had intentionally made it a bit more snug around the chest than it was supposed to be, but Ei didn't need to know that. "Relax, Ei. All that matters is you look good in it." Maybe even better than she did, she'd have to get Ei into outfits like this more often. That aside, she can't help but be pleased that their costumes came out so well, so much so that they even seemed to be turning a few heads in passing. While Miko thrived on attention of this nature, Ei was clearly uncomfortable with it. Taking that into consideration, Miko leads them away from the throngs of people and into their own little secluded corner to give her fiance a moment to breathe and adjust herself accordingly.
"You don't need to focus on anyone else tonight, all right? Just focus on me anytime you feel nervous." Gently, Miko places her hand on Ei's cheek and leans forward to give her a kiss of reassurance. It's been a while for either of them since they've attended a social gathering so large, so it made sense that the shogun would be a little nervous. "Besides…I'd stare at you too if you wore an outfit this stylish often! Thank me, won't you?"

"You speak as though you have a say in this matter. If I say don't, then don't."
"And who are you to bark an order at me as if you mean anything to me at all? That's bold of you in itself. I almost have to admire your certainty, if even a little bit. You must be quite the bossy person."
"Was it that obvious?" Between standing around like 621 didn't have a clue where they were going and the blank expression their face had probably. But part of them was hoping nobody would actually take not here.
"...I can't say I've ever had that happen to me before. Love and I aren't exactly compatible things. Maybe a day dream here and there since getting here but romance has never really suited me."
If it ever did happen then it would be more worrying to see how Raven would actually reciprocate feelings at all. Or if they'd ever catch onto the fact someone was falling for them in the first place.
"Though I won't argue that being someone else doesn't sound too bad." At least in the sense of a story "That's what these are? The "Isekais" you mentioned before?"
"You must lead a pretty lonely and boring life then." Miko was always blunt and to the point with her thoughts even if they were rude. Though maybe the fact that romance wasn't always on their mind was a good thing, it all depended on who they were telling. She didn't care either way and was just making a simple observation.
"Mhm...Isekais have been flying off the shelves. They can be good, albeit a bit cliche at times. I find that they can be entertaining depending on the plot. Most of them deal with being transported to a foreign world and having to acclimate. I suppose that's much like our situation, isn't it? Maybe that's why people are drawn to them. Funny how that works out." There was definitely some irony there.
"Do you think that's the type of genre you'd be interested in? Or perhaps something more dark and gritty?"
"No its because I literally couldn't read anything..." Not that they were going to say that out loud but picking up a book would have literally been impossible. Even in the cockpit bringing a book along would have just been useless in the grand scheme of the operation.
"That's not what I meant from before. I'm just...surprised that they are popular with people that's all. I was just curious to see why it was that's all."
At worst they could say they tried. At best it could be some new venture in life. But judging from the way the individual talked about them 621 may have been getting into some interesting territory.
...That and the bright pink hair with ears like that was really pulling away all of their attention. It had to be a getup of some kind...
"Why indeed, I wonder. You must be new here." Considering how hot of a topic romance seemed to be all the time with people, it made sense that it would be amongst the most popular genres. "People here whine about wanting a relationship all of the time. It's little wonder that they'd immerse themselves in a story pertaining to it. Helps them take their mind off of their unfortunate reality." She shakes her head, it's pitiful really. But hey, if it sent books flying off of the shelves then she wasn't going to complain.
"Haven't you ever daydreamed about being in some sort of fairy tale romance? People eat that kind of plot up, isekais are also in fashion as well. Lots of people would rather be anyone but themselves."
"Don't."
"Sorry, but I don't take orders from broody-faced men. Or men at all, for that matter."
"Believe it or not I haven't read anything at all in the past couple years." If manuals didn't count which they did doubt it did. Comparing a story to black on white papers felt almost offensive to even think about.
"I'm trying to find something to pass the time. Someone gave me the idea of books so…here I am."
Looking about as lost as a puppy on a street corner. Only at least there was a chance for the animal to look somewhat enthused, whereas 621 was a mix of embarrassment and confusion.
"While these are popular they seems pretty explicit. Are these really the most popular books around here or is there something I'm missing?"
"Then I can only imagine your taste in literature to be incredibly dull." Sure, not having read anything of note within the past couple of years wasn't entirely indicative of a person, but it said a lot to Miko and none of it was good. "Thank goodness someone in your life has sense enough to point you here." Heaven only knows how much they were probably in need of something interesting to read in their life.
"They are, but if they aren't your particular cup of tea then I may be of some assistance pointing you in the right direction." Not that she worked here or anything, she just happened to be a passing patron. And she considered herself pretty adept in helping people find the genres that they liked. "Or perhaps you think you're too good to read books like these, is that it?"

GENSHIN IMPACT | Yae Miko
“Lady Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine is fond of many things. From whimsical novels to fragrant, tender, and succulent fried tofu, as well as charming and interesting people. Thus, she enjoys anything, as long as it relieves boredom.”
"My oh my. You put pumpkin spice into a drink and suddenly everyone acts as though it's the end of the world. Just don't buy the drink, simple."
