1)This is actually a good way to get people into reading.

I chopped my beard off a while ago in a fit of crazy. 

I needed some change in my life and was getting tired of my beard getting in the way of stuff (particularly winter-stuff like coat lapels, sweater neck-holes, scarves, and foamy drinks). I initially wanted to do the thick bushy mustache thing, paired with cheek-scruff, but I don’t think I have the right density/opacity of mustache-hair to really make that work. Most of the guys who have that look and make it work are generally duskier and I don’t think it did much for me except make me look like trailer trash (not that that is such a bad thing, but it was a bit of a shocker in the mirror each morning). 

Anyway, the beard is growing out now and should be corporation-friendly in time for my annual January pilgrimage to Boston for a rousing company sales meeting. I’m also hoping I can make it back up to 250 lbs by then as well. I do enjoy the commentary from team members who only see me once a year when I walk across the stage.

I don’t think I’ll be going back to big-big beard for a while, unless I do end up quitting my job in Spring. The maintenance is kind of a pain, and I never got to look anything less than homeless for more than a day after a trim-up. It was nice while it lasted though!
