maya watches as he types his number into her phone, thinking his words over carefully. she takes her phone back once he’s done. she takes a look at the time, before sliding it back into her pocket. “look, i gotta go now … but i got this very noted. and maybe i’ll be calling you up sooner rather than later.” she hesitates before she starts to walk away, quickly making a decision and leaning in to press a kiss to his cheek. “don’t forget about me, minkus.” there’s the quickest scrape of her teeth against his skin before she’s pulling away. she gives one final wave before she makes her way towards the exit.

farkle gives a soft nod of his head, “well, i look forward to that,” he comments, and he does find truth in it. he won’t put too much hope in her following through with calling him. he knows how these could go, so he just puts himself out there - and let’s the other decide. “you’re hard to forget, hart.” farkle says, giving a wave back at her as he watches as she leaves.

he smiles slightly, he is curious to how this will play out in the long run. but, he doesn’t think it will be bad. “will do,” he says as he takes her phone that she’s held out to him, typing in his number. “so, it’s there if you ever want a tutor or well, anything really.” leaving that open wide, and she can take it as she wants. “i’ll be there to help you out.”

“exactly,” farkle says with a smile, dads suck and he could go the rest of his life without seeing his father. then he gives a small shrug of his shoulder, giving a playful smile, “i mean, everything is worth a shot right?” he muses with a playful tone - allowing for it to be played off as a joke but, if he is hitting on her well, he’s a simple man and she’s pretty. “can’t get no where without taking a risk, right?”

maya remembers his little tutoring business, though it was something she’d never personally used. she had too many other pressing matters, too many other things to worry about besides school and grades, though there’s a part of her that thinks if had had the time to focus on school, maybe she’d have done better, maybe she’d be in college right now, but she carefully pushes that thought away. “at least you’re putting it to good use.” she points out with another shrug. “and hey, i mean i can respect that even more. as for what i’m up to … eh, honestly not much. the same old shit, guess i’m still stuck in high school.”

he gave a small shrug of his shoulders, he had to put it somewhere. his mother was counting on him to help with his siblings and he cared for her even if she wasn’t the best all the time. “gotta prove it to him somehow. that he can’t just demand money, he has to also work for it,” which is what farkle is doing, that should he get a job out of this he won’t be demanding to be paid high - at least, not until he makes a name for himself in the field. “well that’s doing something. got any plans? if you need any help... how about i give you my number. maybe i won’t charge you.” he says with a playful smile.

maya isn’t at all surprised to learn he’s in college, if there’s anyone from her class she’d have put money on to go, it would’ve been farkle. though she does find herself impressed that he tricked them into giving him a scholarship, she didn’t try for that, figuring it was pointless anyways. plus, if she’d gone to college, there would be no one to take care of her mother. “yeah that sounds about right, you always were real smart. so i guess i can respect that.” she replies with a shrug, trying not to think about her own missed opportunities. “at least one of us is going to make something of themselves.”

he let out a soft chuckle, “well it’s not much, just that this thing up here,” farkle points to his head. he was always the smart kid, the one people would go to for tutoring - which he used to his advantage and earned himself some money that way in school. though, sometimes it was exchanged for favours if the person didn’t have the money - but not that often. something he still does in college. “it likes to retain all information, gotta do something with it.” he gives a light shrug of his shoulders. “not sure if i’m making something of myself. just, doing it to spite my no good father. anyway, what are you up to these days?”

maya isn’t expecting to come across farkle minkus at this party, but there’s also a part of her that isn’t surprised, she’d run into him at plenty in high school. she makes her way over to him, beer in hand, eyebrows raised. “yo minkus.” she greets, the two hadn’t ever really been close, but he had been one of the few people she’d actually talk to occasionally. “feel like i haven’t seen you since high school, what’re you up to nowadays?”

parties were always a scene that farkle likes, it gets him out and away from his studies. sure he takes them seriously, but he’s also letting himself be free now that he can. though he frequents his siblings because they’re important to him. “hart,” farkle greets back, with a raise of his cup as maya hart speaks to him. he knew of her - not a whole lot but hey who doesn’t have their secrets. “trying to get a good education. managed to trick them into giving me a scholarship.” though, he always did put in the work, he just... he wants to be a better man then his father was.
