Darkest Before Dawn

     ❝ i’d suggest finding something else to do in that case, though i’m not sure what that would end up being. ❞

     authority issues aside, it’s not his intention to be flippant. he’d say it was simply stating a fact and leave it at that if he could yet something tells him this wasn’t a social call. when did demons ever have those? restless fingertips drum against his knee, casting his gaze around while the other’s busy with more important things. a dislike for being in one place setting in the way it usually did when he’s feeling confined, diverting his attention once more at the question posed to him after a momentary silence.

      ❝what details would you like to hear? a progress report on my daily activities or a general overview on whether the rumor mill is correct or not?❞ brows raise with the given response, a mask in place on stoic features.

“I am not interested in progress reports-” he motions to the pile of papers “-I have enough of those. No, I called you in because you see things differently than the rest of your kind and I should like to get your opinion.” Lucifer sighs, pinches the bridge of his nose to stave off a migraine. “I’d like you to tell me the rumors you’ve heard about the uprisings on some of the deeper levels.” 

    that’s weird. or bad, depending on how you looked at it and what the stranger knows or has heard about him. the one thing he’s certain of is that anytime someone showed familarity with his name it doesn’t bode well for the cambion. even stranger is the words of praise rather than the judgmental ones he’s used to.

        ❝ no offense but you might want to check her sources on that; anyone who doesn’t have negative things to say about me either doesn’t have all the details or isn’t paying close enough attention to them. ❞

IT is only for Lilith that he tried to quell this feeling burning up his insides. This pain that was almost too much at times. He longed for BEFORE, what has been stripped from him and forsaken… He knew what she meant, too; too many prying eyes and ears, waiting for any moment when Lucifer wasn’t at the top of his game. Waiting for any moment to betray– again. 

❝I do not pout, Lilith,❞ he argued, hushed tone meeting her words as his eyes stared at the first of her kind. The only true one of her kind. But he cared; he cared too much, too deeply, and that had always, always been his downfall. 

❝Where is this place you speak of?❞ Needless to say, Lucifer was a little curious. 

Lilith has a house of her own in Savannah Georgia. It’s a small cottage out in the bayou where she can convalesce. Before now it had been hidden from Lucifer. In fact, it’s the only thing she has ever hid from him.  “You pout, my king” she gently drags a nail under his chin “but you are much to regal for it, hm?” 

Lucifer needs her now and she can help him. If he just gets away from Hell for a moment it will be better for them all. No one else can lead them it’s him. That’s it. The demons will not listen to anyone else and Lilith doesn’t have what he does. She would need him to back her. So either way- it’s in her best interest to have him close, and safe.  This is not only a selfish move, as she does care for him, but a political one as well. 

They gotta teach Lilith how to be ‘good’ which is hard because she’s so neutral on everything there is no ‘good’ and ‘bad’ for her. It’s just all grey. How can you explain that stealing is wrong when the person who stole did it to feed their family? 

Demons and literally everyone after her for the information she has on Lucifer and Hell in general.
