Today is the QR Code Scavenger Hunt in the Sunwatcher Plaza at 8pm. It would be a shame if you were not prepared properly, so we have compiled a list of FREE scanners (4 or 5 star rated) for your device. Each link should go into your app store on your phone/tablet.  We admit that the names are not all that creative, but they are, in fact, very different apps.

While Earth Day is just a global awareness day to get our minds focused on what we can do to protect our planet, conservation should always be something we should strive for every day.  Here are some simple tips to help with your daily effort:

Low flow fixtures (some washers and grommets can be inserted in place of a new faucet)

fix minor plumbing leaks (toilet, sinks)

don't run the water while you brush your teeth

install programmable thermostat

use rechargeable batteries

recycle old electronics

don't sit in your car while it's on for long periods of time (in parking lots, waiting at businesses)

Purchase Energy Star appliances

Use gray water to take care of your yard (State Laws apply in some instances)

Do not buy disposable electronics or trinkets

Get reusable bags for your shopping, or carry items from smaller purchases without a bag.  Cardboard boxes work well, too.

Turn the lights off in empty rooms.

Use LED or energy efficient bulbs

Tune your car up

Compost for your plants

Xeriscape, or drought tolerant plants
