It’s easy to get lost in society.
I think it’s important that you take time, often, to sit with yourself and reflect on your life. Think about your current desires and compare them to that which you once desired. You might find that the things you’re chasing and are upset that you don’t have aren’t things you truly care for. You just might find that you’ve been so caught up in everything going on around you that you lost sight of yourself. It happens to the best of us. As long as you continue to find yourself you will eventually be okay, but you have to make a commitment to reflection.
Getting There; A Creative Diary
Writing has always been an outlet for me. A safe space to surrender to my emotions and express how I feel without fear of judgement. I’ve written poems, songs, stories, raps, and journal entries since early childhood. I had no thoughts about what others would think of my writing because for many years it was just for me. I didn’t share what I wrote. It was honestly just a therapeutic release for me. Not having thoughts about anyone ever reading what I wrote aided in my ability to be completely open and honest catapulting a healing I desperately needed. Tumblr rolled around and I began writing there too. Eventually I discovered that blogging was a thing and decided to give it a try. I essentially did what I was already doing but for the world to see. I later learned that people were getting paid to blog and research said you had to niche down if you wanted to make money and then one thing led to another and I began writing for other people. My love for and desire to write never fled but the fulfillment of writing did because I was no longer writing for me.
It’s been far too long since I’ve written for me.Â
I am in desperate need of saving and I am fully aware that no one but myself can save me. What better time than now to tap back into the very thing that saved me time and time again. This is the start of a new creative diary I have decided to call Getting There which will share the journey of me creating the life my soul yearns for. There is some hard and heavy work to be done and I am ready to do it. I know that it won’t be easy but I know that it will be worth it. Â
