Taken using a 10 ND - "Lee Big Stopper" (at Miho no Matsubara)
This view is said to be one of the three best views of Japan (Shin Nihon Sankei). A beautiful day to take in the majestic view of Mt Fuji. (at Miho no Matsubara)
Toka Ebisu, a festival held at a shrine where many folk visit to purchase a bamboo branch decorated with various trinkets, in the hopes for a good business prosperity. "...there is the dazzling Good Luck Palanquin parade when a total of 600 celebrities, geisha and fuku-musume (good luck girls) give out lucky goods to the visitors. In order to become a fuku-musume, you have to take a series of auditions, competing against more than 3,000 other candidates. Significant status is acquired when selected as fuku-musume and they receive lots of marriage proposals." - https://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/spot/festival/tokaebisu.html (at Imamiyaebisu-Shrine)
Moss Forest in Shiratana Unsuikyo Ravine - Nature Park. This location provided inspiration for the Studio Ghibli movie 'Mononoke Hime' (Princess Mononoke). (at Yakushima, Kagoshima)

Everyone starts out at the bottom. Just work hard and earn those achievements!! (at Yakushima, Kagoshima)
The Imperial palace is only open up to the public twice a year. After queueing in long lines in which we marched for 2 hours ever so slowly like a squadron of sheep we then had to wait a further 90 minutes in the assembly area. At 1.30pm the seclusive Royal family came out to wave to the crowds, with the Emperor imparting well wishes. Flags were waved and shouts of BANZAI~~~!! could be heard. (at Tokyo Imperial Palace)
These highways and train lines snake through Tokyo and are a common site. For a dense populase the only solution is to build up. Tokyo is the perfect spot for proving out Elon Musk's underground highways. (at Tokyo, Japan)
In Japan, New Years day isn't celebrated by drinking copious amounts of alcohol and fireworks. Instead people go to the temple to pray for a successful year. In this picture you can see a long line of people forming at Sensoji 3 hours before midnight. (at Senso-Ji Temple, Asakusa, Tokyo Japan)
Undercover shopping in Sendai. Great ways to encourage the populace to be out and about in all weather conditions (at Sendai)

View from Godaido Hall at Yamadera. Unfortunately visability was low due to falling snow and creeping fog
No matter the conditions, there will always be refreshments nearby. Garbage bins though.... (at Yamagata, Yamagata)
Torii gate in Aizuwakamatsu
Niigata is known for their exceptional high quality rice. Naturally their sake would be awesome as well - bring brewed from rice. At this sake museum (?!?!) for ¥500 you can have 5 x 25cc glasses of sake. They have over 111 different sake to try!! (at ぽんしゅ館新潟驛店)
The pride of Kanazawa. Plenty of Bonsai trees to give a Botanist wood. Would be worth visiting during Cherry Blossom season. (at Kenroku-en Garden)

Traditional Gassho-zukuri farmhouses. A fan favourite. Worth a day trip from Kanazawa or Takayama. If you plan in advance you might even be able to organise a homestay in one of these Minshuku (family operated b&b's) (at 白川郷(Shirakawa-go))
A real gem. Only a 20min train ride away from the touristy Hida-Takayama. (at Hida-Furukawa)
