Without salvation

Elwine did not get sent down to the surface world very often. She was on a tight leash when it came to that, perhaps because of her sister, and it frustrated her a bit more than she’d like to admit.

Now that there was a relative peace, there was no more fighting. No more fighting, meant that she had no more purpose. She’d been created to be a warrior, so what was a warrior that did not fight? Taffy and Tsurugigozen were no longer available to her, and she had been barred from training other up and coming angels. Most of the other Power Angels wanted nothing to do with her, much less to train after what she had done to Rosemary and Lasafam.

Which meant the few times she could get any relief was these times she was able to come down and pick a fight with a demon--preferably a strong one like that Hijohshiki--or when her God beat her.

She had learned to enjoy those moments--perhaps a little too much.

Unfortunately after her work, in a little town not to far from the Devil’s castle, she had trouble finding anyone who seemed like they would be enjoyable to fight. Or maybe the urge just wasn’t there for once. Elwine couldn’t say. Her enthusiasm for even that had been on a low these past couple days, so instead she just flew around on beaten wings, feathers falling from her already sparse wings with the effort it took to keep her afloat.

As her stomach growled, the cat was considering just returning home with resignation, when her nose caught whiff of a scent that startled her so badly, she actually began falling through the air before she caught herself again.

She knew that smell. She knew it better than anyone else--one so similar to her own.

It was...Nadine.

Immediately she was hit with anger, shock, desperation and longing. 

It had been as simple as that. She had never been far away, and yet how long had it been since they’d seen each other? Elwine hovered around for a while, following the scent as if in a dream till she spotted a cozy little cottage beyond the city, in the forest surrounded by swampy grounds.

Right there. She was a witch now, Elwine knew this. What a fitting place for a witch to live.

Well. That was a piece of information that Elwine did not expect to learn today, but she would do nothing with it. She’d just return home, continue with her life, and let her sister continue with hers. She had made her decision to leave heaven, and leave her, so there was nothing more to be said or done.

The angel was surprised when she found her feet carefully landed on the ground before the cottage.

To begin with Elwine isn’t keen on the familiars period, even before properly meeting them. As far as she’s concerned the familiars are Nadine’s replacement family. She fluctuates a lot between understanding her sister’s escape and feeling incredibly abandoned, and the familiars are perfect scapegoats.

That said considering that Chlomaki’s relationship with Fungas is a romantic one I actually feel like that’d soften the blow a little, since it’s a slight different one than a familial one. I still don’t think she’d like him very much by default and I don’t think she’d be opposed to hurting him but I think she’d begrudgingly respect him and very, very, very deep down appreciate what he has done from Chlomaki.

Ivlis

As a Devil Elwine would have a bit more interest in him than she would most other people. Elwine has basic respect for any entity at default, though she will only serve her own. Once she got a look at Ivlis and saw what he was like, however, all that respect would probably fly right out the window.

While she would be pretty disgusted by Satanick’s obsessive attitude towards Ivlis, she wouldn’t be particularly sympathetic towards Ivlis either. He’s supposed to be a Devil which means he should be much more capable of looking out for himself than this, and so she would attribute his lack of ability to fight back as a weakness he created on his own--whether it be a lack of effort or inability it matters little to her.

As an angel I think by default Ivlis would be disgusted by her as well, especially if he were ever able to figure out the....uh. Demented relationship she has with her own God, there might be some jealousy there?

Don’t be Ivlis.

Stars

Stars is much, much trickier. Depending on how much Elwine knew of what Stars was, could...or maybe not change things?

If she didn’t know what she was, Elwine probably would completely pass over her. She’d just be a bunny as far as the cat would know which is something she has seen plenty of. A magical bunny at best, which still isn’t anything particularly exciting in her world.

If Elwine DID know what Stars was then that’s different. Stars is a singularly unique creature which means she might provide something new, a distraction, an entertainment, a new reason---something.

I don’t think Elwine would know exactly what she was striving for but she’d just ask a lot of questions. It’s something to do, and Stars has answers she might be willing to give.

HMMM.

This meme is going to be tough with Elwine for pretty much everyone involved which is why I really wanted to try and force myself to sit down and think how I could get more CR with her. Problem with Elwine is that she is largely a pretty apathetic person and can be pretty single minded when it comes to her relationships and priorities.

I use to headcanon her as being pretty hateful towards demons, oni, “”questionable”” supernatural creatures but with recent reveals of what her God is like I don’t think she would hold that prejudice much anymore, which is something Seiga might have fit in her narrow view.

I think we would need to chalk their initial and repeated interaction to circumstance---something, likely a job given to her by her God would need to bring Elwine down to Seiga’s area. I feel she’s appreciate that Seiga pretty much just cares about her and her own. In Elwine’s eyes that makes her honest. Going from our thread with Lobco, the fact that she’s a pretty calm and reserved person too.

From that I can see Elwine saying hi whenever she were to go down but beyond that, something in particular would have to happen for any relationship of substance to happen.
