Cattle are one thing that is misunderstood by people in everyday life-- even though they are a large part of our ecosystem. Focusing on one part of the cattle industry: the dairy industry. The Dairy industry is part of most people's lives all over the world, but the question is: do YOU know where this milk is coming from? Milk is a substance that is produced by cattle; something that is confused in recent days is that all cattle are the producers of the milk you drink, but in reality its dairy specific cattle that make that milk, and it's a really animal-care-based production rate, most current and organic companies make sure that their cattle is raised perfectly and nothing is there to stress the cattle or something that may effect the rates of production with one cow. Cattle don't produce milk naturally, not without an excuse, and the excuse that is always used within the dairy industry is insemination, which is the planting of sperm in a cow's reproductive tract, which causes the cow to produce milk. Despite popular rumors or propaganda, calves being stripped from their mother isn't usually true and honestly rarely happens. While a cow can't be with her calf for the whole time of milking, recent dairy farms keep the calf with the mother for weeks if not months to prevent the mother from being stressed and so that the calf can consume some of the mother's milk. Most people think that dairy is unethical and brutish but dairy is very particular and exact with what they do, its only majorly large brands such as, Great Value, Fairlife, and Land O'Lakes which take calves away from their mothers mear minutes after birth, then rather than giving the usual 2 month grace period, they rush to inseminate their cows imedietly after birth, there are multiple things they do that is unethical and rather unnessecary such as horn docking and tail docking. While this is horrible and so sad for the time and technology we are living with, we still have to question the people that protect our animals, not industries like PETA, but industries that care about what they do, like ASPCA. Don't be scared to invest in the dairy industry; just stay away from major brands to prevent more funding for the abuse of cattle and the unethical ways all around. Thank you for reading!
