Manga and Legos are the most commonly lifted items. Manga almost always has easily peel-able RFIDs hidden in pages.

Legos with spider wraps can be detagged by either being slid off in a blindspot and hidden or, and I have not tried this so proceed with caution, cut off with a pocket knife.

Other toys, dice, collectibles whatever without spider tags are either RFIDed on the outside or likely not tagged at all. If you dont see an RFID its safe to assume it isnt tagged. This goes up to items worth at least $59.99. Technically everything above $50 is supposed to be tagged but I dont need to tell you that isnt the case :)

ALL CDs/Vinyls have RFIDs in the price tags. They will beep at every tower.

Blind spots in mall outlets can be easily found by windows, blind spots in standalone locations can be sometimes found by cooking, self help, or classic literature.

If you make a legitimate purchase at the starbucks you can be given a B&N bag. This can be used for future/other locations to simply walkout and alleviate suspicion.

Loss prevention is usually not active in mall locations, unless its a high-theft area. If they see a significant enough theft mall security will be alerted.

Loss prevention in standalone locations has greatly diminished since pre-Covid. Most stores wont have any AP/LP.

Booksellers and baristas (if you get caught concealing by a barista get off liftblr) are hands off, and if they see you concealing will alert the manager. You are very unlikely (still possible, however. Don’t be brazen) to be confronted by booksellers, but the manager can confront you if desired.

If a regular shopper sees you conceal and alerts a worker, you can be confronted in store.

B&N casebuilds repeat offenders if you’re caught on camera taking something big. Find a blindspot.

The amount of cameras in use has also been either stagnant or shrinking. Assume all are real but dont think blind spots are impossible to find.

Even if caught by a worker or seen on camera chances are you wont be approached. Workers do not get paid enough to care and are advised not to confront at all.

B&N has regional LP that will also work to catch repeat, high-value offenders. Boosting ring type lifters, professionals, whatever. Police will be alerted.

Internal theft is a larger concern for regional LP and B&N general management as petty theft is frequently covered by insurance.

B&N does inventory once a year.

Stores are usually disorganised (to workers, at least) due to recent changes in shelve markings.

Theft/loss of product is measured as a percentage of the stores sales. This means that less popular stores will put a greater focus on anti-theft measures whereas more popular stores will place less, and subsequently be easier to lift from.
