Mapping conclusion
This project was the most difficult but in the end most satisfying projects I've made all year. While planning out the project I discovered how intricate things needed to be and how they would tie other things together. I had a lot of fun making things that had symbolism or paid homage to something. For example, I used pigs for the clues because humans and pigs have quite similar organ structure I think sometimes people get organ transplants from pigs and people butcher pigs so it was symbolic of victims being butchered. The term pig is also a nickname for a cop so it references the cops as well and could allude to maybe the cops will be butchered. The Promo Poster I uploaded before the due date was to pay respects to how Endi said my original film reminded him of the film Rashomon. This piece focused a lot on the juxtaposition of subject matter with its execution. Most of the physical pieces were somewhat childish and the entire thing was a game so it wasnβt meant to be taken too seriously in the first place. This contrasted with the fact that itβs about a real serial killer.Β
Looking back on the project there were some things that I would like to have changed. I wish that I had used a larger space for the activity and made it more suitable for such a large group of people. Myroslavβs game was meant for larger teams whereas my game couldβve been solved by a few people. The space also hindered the way I wished the bus and masks to work effectively. However, I still think that the project went over well because some people were very enthusiastic about the project and I could see people working together to try and solve the riddles and clues.Β
My final project was very helpful in teaching me a lot about trial and error and how the human thought process works. When creating the bus I had to remake the straps because the first ones were too flimsy. I was able to quickly reinforce their strength because I had previously learned a lot in our body extension project. This activity taught me about testing and prototyping because I had a few people test the riddles which helped me learn what was difficult about them and it made me have to really consider how an outsider would think in each situation. For me everything seemed straightforward but that was also because I made it and therefore knew the answer. I am happy with what I learned from this project and the rest of this class. Thanks for a great semester.
This is the video for the activity. Itβs not as exciting without actually playing the game.
Also here is my final mask of the body extension compared to the second one.
