20 years ago from Saturday, Legend of Mana was released in North America for the Sony PlayStation 1! 🎂🥳🎉

Legend of Mana was a bold entry to the Mana series. Squaresoft changed the typical linear adventure to open world-building. The decisions you made and how you built the world determined the quests that were open to you.

Different characters join you depending on the quest you’re partaking in. Additionally, there’s a system where you can collect/grow pets or build a golem to fight by your side.

The art consisted of gorgeous sprites and hand-drawn backgrounds. The soundtrack was excellent. There are several tracks I still listen to today.

People either loved this game or hated it. The gameplay was quite different than the previous Mana games. It takes some time and patience to get used to it.
