I'm just trying to exist.

The image of the shadow society having a selfie session made Adria giggle, “Good lord, like a bunch of teenagers. I bet your right.” She flicked away the finnished smoke and sighed deeply, “This is going to fucking suck, isn’t it.”

“I doubt that. She’s a restless one, and can’t stay away from a fight. I’m sure she’s just out helping with this bullshit. She likes you too much to just leave….must be how people feel about me and Fawn,” Adria remarked. She had to admit she wanted to knock some heads in as well but knew she would only make things worse, “Who doesn’t at this point. But who knows what’s left of that wreck. Even if the society is still down there, do you think you could find one of the bastards before the bridge collapses?”

“Maybe, I miss her face....She’s the only one that doesn’t shy away from me, makes me feel like less of a freak” she hummed and then gave a sigh, anxious that the other might well have left despite Adria’s words. “I could, they’ll be down there reveling in what’s happening, they can’t help themselves, they’re probably taking selfies of their supposed good job.” 

“And risk melting that pretty face? What will your birdie say.” She raised a brow before gesturing next to her, inviting the titanium woman over, “Got any ideas?”

“It was the footsteps,” she smirked turning to look at her friend. As much as not being able to hear Eleanor’s thoughts should have annoyed her, Adria actually found it rather refreshing. Eleanor was like an actual person, one she had to take time to learn and know. One that fascinated her like no one else. She didn’t immediately know if Eleanor was being honest with her, or if she was lying. It was exciting. A breath of fresh air in her world….most of the time, “Howdy Silver. Come to take in the view of the beginning of our true and final downfall?”

“Well, you’ve adapted to me then” The silver woman chuckled and folded her arms, a small smile on her shiny lips as she watched the other woman. “Oh something like that. More wondering who I need to go and fight really. Since everyone else is staying around the damage. I think I might just walk on into those flames and see what comes out of the woodwork” she hummed, dragging her metal tongue over lips. 

Thana wanted to ask about the aliens, but decided that she wasn’t going to, figuring they were lacking a “true believer moment” and she wasn’t supposed to know who or what they were. “Yeah, I can’t imagine a current government being okay with their workers participating in blood sport.” She commented. “Still pretty cool though.”

“Yeah but people like the villain will always be around. People like us, will always have a place as long as people like them are around.” He said with a shrug. “It’s like the genetically change us.” He wondered if that was a thing. 

“Got it,” Thana said with a slight grimace at the idea of radiation poisoning. “I’m pretty positive there’s a less violent game show like that here on earth. Or I saw in a TV show? The point is is that life forms like injuring each other for entertainment.” She said. 

With a confident smile, Cameron nodded. “ I know we will. As long as we have the people heart’s then we will be here.” That’s why Cameron liked when heroes did more than just fight crime. It wasn’t just about enforcing the laws but changing people’s heart and mind. He wanted inspire the youth to do more and greater than themselves. 

“Holy shit neat.” Thana said with a grin. She had five billion questions about what space was like, but she figured she’d curb them. “I now absolutely want a laser sword. Not because I’d actually use it, but because the idea is just like really fucking neat. Like a really fancy wall sword.” She said with a laugh. “So there’s space gladiators?”

Thana nodded once. That was one way of looking at it, war was messy and it made her head hurt. “The next thing we know they’ll be battle robots and space wizards with laser swords.” She muttered. She allowed her body to slump all the way so she was laying on the floor. Her thoughts drifted in and out, not sure what to really think about in the moment. “You don’t have a laser sword do you? I mean, I assume with your powers there’d be no need for one, but has anyone developed one?” She asked.

“Well that is always one of the best to do when you are in a bad mood, I just normally draw or listen to music. A tag team? Now that does sound really interesting I would be down for that if need be.”

“Honestly, I have no idea.” He asked. The man was simply trying to comfort her. “I’m sure somewhere out there, is another pretty lady with metal powers.” He said rubbing his neck. “I think we’re going to be here awhile. For the all good we do.” He said with a confident smile. “I’m sure the hero union will be here for another 100 years.” 

“Well you know me, I’m far too curious for my own good and will probably continue asking until we get to the bar.”She replied as she looked up at her face for a moment. “20? Let’s hope that nothing happens tonight that we bring that up to 21.”

“That is amazing,” Thana said with a grin. She nodded at the woman’s pessimistic view. She wasn’t wrong, Thana was too much of a history nerd to know otherwise. “Doesn’t stop us for striving for moments of peace, and isn’t that in the end what’s really saved humanity?” She asked with a tilt of her head.
