You found me in the in the loneliest place

Saw me in my darkest phase

You held me in the middle of a confusing maze

Loved me when I was broken and waiting to fade

 You picked up every single piece of me

You fixed me up for the whole world to see

That I could be strong despite the scars

And I stand tall under the stars

 I gave up on life so long, I couldn’t remember

But you offered me love that’s forever

And for always, I would be grateful

An eternity, you promised to be faithful

 So this I wrote, for me to show

That someone so high loves someone so low

For you, my God, will always be,

Yes, I failed. I fell down way more than I should’ve had. I was a disappointment—I guess I always have been, was I not? I slipped; fell hard, and now I couldn’t get back on my feet. I was like a disaster waiting to happen—and I did. Congratulations! I now feel like a worthless piece of trash.

I’m sorry. I am sorry for not being enough; for not doing my best; for slacking off. I am sorry for not trying harder—harder than what everyone does. Sorry for not staying up all day and all night studying and having my phone with me the whole day instead. Sorry for not pushing myself more—I guess I could’ve done better, yes? I am sorry if I am not the person you’ve always wanted me to be. I’m sorry if you had a failure for a daughter. And I am sorry for being me.

I understand. That all you want was the best for me; that you expect me to be something more. I understand that you wanted me to do good like others do—to always excel. And I understand, too, that this all I got. I understand that this is the lazy, failing, ugly me being myself. I hope you understand that too.

Thank you. Thank you for making me realize that life is cruel; that it’s not all unicorns and rainbows; that life is not a fairy tale and that I live in a harsh world called reality. Thank you for slapping that painful truth right on my very face. I thought I got used to rejections and words that cut real deep that for a while, I thought I went numb. You made me realize that I could hurt and cry more; you made me feel and I thank you for that. Thank you for I have become stronger. I never knew I had this strength in me all along. Now I can endure more than I always had. Now I know that I can survive struggles with flying colors; and I have to thank you for that.
